Guest NorthoftheBorder Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Here's the stadium with player entrances. They are close to where they are now. The alternative is to have one big entrance behind the goal posts. I just forgot to put them in this morning. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7260/6890167022_b26325286e.jpg Does Lamar need a 30K stadium while in the SLC? Probably not. But Dr. Simmons has stated in the past that they could easily expand the stadium to this size and this shows it can be done with the space they have, without having to build any upper decks. I like this configuration because there's minimal endzone seating. This would be the perfect size in the Sun Belt conference. An enlarged pressbox with a nice facade would really make the stadium look great from the outside. I doubt we'll see this anytime soon but it's fun to dream about it. Hey coach I second the accolades for the good work. I'm no architect but I'm really thinking that this configuration only gets you about 25k and you have to have a small 5k deck on the east to get to 30k capacity. You may know more than I on the seating but thats my uneducated calculation. Quote
coachacola Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 The way I'm estimating seating capacity is that right now there's 10 full sections, 5 on each side, plus the 4 small sections on each end. I count those 4 small sections as 1, so that's 11 total section, divided into 16K, which is about 1455 per section. The expanded stadium I have has 10 sections on each side, plus the endzone seating. That's at least 21 sections which comes out to a little over 30K. There's still room for a multi-story pressbox and/or an upper deck on either side. I think they could expand to 35K without having to build an upper deck. If going FBS is in Lamar's future then I'm guessing this is how they'll expand the stadium, and they don't have to do it all at once. What I like about it is that don't have to rely on a lot of endzone seating so most everyone will have a good view of the action. Quote

Your numbers make sense with the 50k rendering that has been posted before. The 50k expansion (which was before they reduced the seating capacity for ADA laws) did not require any multi tier decks, it only required bowling Quote
