Mike Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 its been confirmed by lamarcardinals.com that QB Harrison Tatum and TE Caleb Shelly have decided to quit playing football and have left the team. Quote
coachacola Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Tatum was the first recruit Woodard signed! Wish him the best. Quote
Guest McneeseKilla Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 He might have been the first recruit, but he hasn't seen a lick of playing time so I don't blame him for wanting to leave. Wish him the best as well. Quote

Makes more sense on the move of Ploch to TE. Could also have implications on whether Bergeron gets a redshirt. Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 @Cmdabe: Tatum told me he has no bitterness toward coaches. Decided to focus on school and plans to graduate next year. He's a PN-G grad. #BEscores Already posted in other thread @bigredinsider: Caleb Shelly going into ministry. #bigredinsider Woodard on tatum. "done everything we asked gonna graduate and a little tired of fighting debt chart" #bigredinsider Quote
coachacola Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I wonder if QB Matt Bergeron will less likely redshirt next year with both Prewitt and Tatum no longer on the team? Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I wonder if QB Matt Bergeron will less likely redshirt next year with both Prewitt and Tatum no longer on the team? We still have 3 QB's. Unless he is the starter I really hope we red shirt him. No reason to lose a year of eligibility being #2-#4. I think he will end up red shirting, all these other guys will have at least spring training on him. From his reported performances I can see how Mossakowski might emerge as a front runner. I still think it's wide open though. Quote

I can understand redshirting him for the #4 spot. However, that #2 is a lot more valuable than we probably think. Think Schaub/Leinart/Yates. Quote

"done everything we asked gonna graduate and a little tired of fighting debt chart" #bigredinsider Good for Shelly. We lost an OL committ from West Brook because he was going into the ministry. That shows that Woodard is looking for solid kids to be in the program and I applaud him for that. Quote

Did you read Mike's scrimmage notes for yesterday? He posted exact numbers on what Caleb Berry and Mossakowski did. allsports34 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I can tell you Matt bergeron is coming there to compete. He told me he is training as if he will start. He said if he did not keep that mentality your training will suffer. He also said the coach will make the final call and if Berry and Moss are in front he will support them and be their biggest fans...He is a Cardinal and so are they...This kid is all about team....He's about to turn inside out to get there......Down here in the bayou we got em all sayin Geaux Cardinals... Based on current state of things and having not seen Bergeron in a uniform yet, I think it's safe to say this is where most Cardinal fans have the order: 1. Mossakowski 2. J. Johnson 3. Bergeron/Berry Again, that is based only on what people are saying. No one has seen Bergeron play at this level yet. Who knows? Be it known that if he is found to be the best of the bunch, all Lamar Cards fans will be behind him (the same can be said for any of the QB candidates). Quote
allsports34 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Sorry we missed Johnson who looks to be a good QB also.....We will be fine, it looks like a nice talent pool to pick from.... Quote
Guest mendelj Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 From what I've seen Berry and Mossokowski are doing well and about the same with a few glitches with learning a new system. Didn't see much of Johnson yesterday because he didn't get to practice as much. He stood back in the back for about the last 40 minutes of practice on Tuesday. Quote
Guest mendelj Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Don't get where you find most Cardinal fans getting the order of the QB's as Mossokowski J. Johnson Berry/Bergeron No one's seen these guys practice enough yet to make any real determinations. Right now they are all on the same level. Based on watching the last two practices I wouldn't rank in that order at all. I wouldn't rank in any order yet.:) Quote

I wouldn't rank in any order yet.:) I agree, and I think I made note of the fact that only a couple or so have really been seen fully. However, with Mossakowski's pedigree and track record, I think most people see him as the frontrunner currently (without even having the freshman on campus yet). That was really the only point I was trying to make. I hope we get to see Johnson's speed on the field somewhere. Maybe he can be a wide-out if QB doesn't pan out for him. He runs a 4.3 if I'm remembering correctly. Don't take the order I posted as anything of a rumor or such. I was just pointing out that the position was "Mossakowski's to lose" as noted by others on here. I'm 450 miles away in Dallas anyway, so I have to try doubly hard to get even a whiff of anything going on down there. Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I wouldn't say it's Mossakowski's to lose, but I would say with the video I have seen that I expect him to perform well and be in the conversation from day 1. I could still see Berry or Johnson as the starter, both have impressed me in different ways the limited times I saw them. What I liked about Berry in the McNeese game was how he spread the ball around right away. He didn't seem to favor any receiver, he just hit the open man. Apparently in camp no one has really done that yet though. I do hope that we have a clear front runner going into fall camp, it would be really nice to have that position filled in early so we could develop more as an offense. Quote
