coachacola Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 He should help next year with both the passing and running game: BEAUMONT, Texas (5-03-2012) -- Palomar tight end Cory Soto has signed a letter of intent to play football at Lamar University. Soto, a 6-foot-8, 255-pound sophomore from La Costa Canyon High School, is expected to play a key role in turning around the fortunes of the Football Championship Subdivision (I-AA) program. The Cardinals went 4-7 last season. Lamar will play in Honolulu the third week of the season against the University of Hawaii, which along with Michigan State were Football Bowl Subdivision schools that intitially had Soto high on their radar before he was just short of being able to transfer at the semester in time for spring football. Guest CardAmbassador Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I was about to say I received information on this guy. I was told about Soto by DJLocal, thanks for the really good information. The kid is huge! Quote
Guest bigred360 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I know some of you will probably disagree but I might think of moving him to the O-line as at 6'8, he can put on a lot of weight on that frame. I remember Jason Mathews from Bridge City played TE in HS (Vidor HC/AD Jeff Mathews brother). I'm not sure what they did with him at BYU but I know when he transferred to A&M he was moved to the O-line and had a nice career in the NFL. Just a tought! Glad to him, welcome to Lamar University! Now that Woodard has signed another offensive lineman he can stay at TE. Good to see Woodard adding 2 good players for the offense. Quote

He pretty much states that he thinks Soto can grow into an OL position and with the recent developments it would make sense. Not to mention I feel LU is pretty loaded at the TE position as we sit.
