Since Lamar has lost 3 of their 5 starting linemen from last year, I think comparing the possible new lineup against some of the top teams in the SLC would be helpful in trying to judge how good the OL will be this upcoming season.

I think SFA has by far the biggest OL which means they'll probably have one of the best in the conference. I just don't think that having a smaller OL necessarily means they will be bad. SHSU's wasn't the biggest, with about 4 OL on the 2-deep around 275 lbs.

Oh, we can definitely be good, and at the very least better than last year. The statement I was making was just that we are clearly on the smaller side. I've seen many comments that suggest a smaller line can actually run the ball better than a large line so that might work to the running back's favor this year since we have several RB's not just 1 in our system now.

one of the first comments I ever made about coaching here was the OL, we had a guy who had never ever played or coached that position, or for that matter many others, step in and immediately take the OL job here. That had to be a challenge for him. Obviously people have to get their start somewhere but I would rather that be in HS than in DI ball.

I like everything I've heard about McKnight, I'm hoping his presence and a generally a more disciplined lockerroom will translate to success on the gridiron this year. We did lose alot of players but there are also alot of guys that are playing for their third year and that is very valuable.
