"The best fanbase in the SLC" wont show up for afternoon games? No one else in the conference seems to have this problem. IF Lamar ever made it to the Sunbelt do you really think they would get mostly night games?

Ha! attendance trash talk ? Aside from mcNeese, the rest of the conference has trouble getting anybody to watch em at home...

Puddin, don't be proud of attendance when the team's record is what it is.

I'd rather have an undefeated team with 1,000 people showing up than a packed house of 15,000 with what Ray is putting out there.

I hate to say it but I almost agree with Wooten right now. But that is just cause I am tired of watching us lose.

And we have lead the SLC in attendance in just about every category for years. It is pretty hard to talk trash to us about attendance if you are an SLC school.

We have better attendance figures than any other SLC team in the league by far. This is an argument that you can't win. Don't waste your time.

And if you want to ague semantics over the word best, have fun, cause I am not wasting my time on that.

We might suck at football but we do have a lot of fans. The first game of the season was an afternoon game and it was still a sell out by the way. I think people just prefer evening games. That is all.

The key is what will people say about your team 10 years later? Will they say "Wow, Lamar was leading the league in attendance" or will they say "Those were some tough years."

Everybody in the SLC would love to have higher attendance, but I can almost guarantee that everyone of them would rather have a better record.

I want both, and if we win we will have both!!! No doubt with the tenor of all the posting on here the last week the faithfull are a little weary (that's why I have been silent for the last week and I have noticed there are others who have as well). I think the main thing is are we getting better, even if it is incremental, and that is what everyone is having a hard time seeing (myself included). I am not in the camp against Ray Woodard and yet I don't have a warm fuzzy about the current direction of the team, at least not from what my uneducated observation can discern. I think we all have very high expectations and the more faithfull fans are a little frustrated with seeing quick success with other programs who have made a coaching change and (myself included) have equated that to what should have happened at LU. Whether that is apples and oranges (a fair comparison) I don't know, but I also know that it is no doubt possible for LU to be competing in year 3 (I admit that is a tall order but not impossible). I can tell you that I believe the sports fans (and LU fans/alums) really desire a winning program to rally around and I truly believe that if that happens we will see a huge ground swell of support. You can say it shouldn't be that way but there are a lot of people waiting for a really good program to support and they will come if that happens. If I were Woodard I wouldn't worry about attendance, I would strictly focus 110% of his energy on the improvement of the team and how to win games, period. He will have more "friends and supporters" than he can imagine if he does that. This is a business where you get "loved" for what you do not who you are, fair or not.

Like I said Wooten, you are making a very solid point. At least with our attendance it can help us have the money to hire Paul Johnson, wink wink administration.

Triple option would be fun to watch at Lamar, just sayin. And it does well with an undersized line, which we obviously need.

The triple option is the great equalizer.

Im not saying there are teams with better attendance numbers over the last two years what I am saying is blaming the start time for the lack of attendance is bullshit.

Lamar officials used the "lack of community support" to kill the program 20 years ago. Many thought this was bullshit, what they wanted was to divert the money going to football to men's basketball, but they were idiots!

Not me...it is boring as hell when nobody is there. Winning or not.
