coachacola Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Looks like JMU (in Virginia) will replace WKU, which means they are replacing one eastern team with another one that's even further east. Now the Sun Belt stretches from Idaho to Virgina with a few football-only members so it doesn't seem that stable to me. Wonder how schools like ULM are going to handle the travel with their budgets. jdcurran235 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 It is funny how the Sunbelt board thinks that the SLC is just a total crap conference as their conference just falls apart. But either way it is fun to just get them all worked up on their board!! Quote

coachacola Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Jack @WACJack 15m Sun Belt peeps: if your choice in shit sandwiches is Liberty or TXST system school/former member Lamar, you roll with the Tri-Lambs. Right? Quote

ThePrisoner Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 I would think TxSt would be pushing hard for us. No doubt, probably UTA as well. But, there seems to be much resentment among the older Sun Belt members. Quote
SunBelt City Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 http://www.gotroytrojans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30914 Wish more sunbelt posters thought this way I would say that Lamar has the support of most posters on http://www.goTroyTrojans.com. And from what I hear, Jack Hawkins is in favor of including Lamar. The admission of Idaho is really just dumb. NMSU I can barely tolerate. And don't fret over what ULL thinks...they have two decent seasons (not championship seasons - they haven't won the SunBelt Conference EVER) and they think they own the conference. Lamar's Stadium is currently way nicer. They have been talking about a $100 million dollar face lift for 10 years, but let's face it, they are 40 miles from Baton Rouge. Their current coach is a total slime-ball and will dump ULL as soon as he can. I don't think ArkState cares and I don't think they are moving anywhere. They have been pushing for Missouri State for a closer rival. ULM has no vision - it might actually benefit if they moved to the East with AppState and GaSouth joining. Texas State and UTA have to be pushing for Lamar. Quote

I have one Dear friend high enough in the Foodchain in the TU administration that reports to JH directly and two within the AD that confirm/deny all that I hear. Trust me, Troy is a rumormill town-kind of like Hooterville. You can read the comment yourself on GTT and I encourage you to post there. Most prefer a geographical-aligned conference. The ULL stuff is my opinion based on the obvious-they have done little to nothing with that concrete mess they call the swamp since it was built. They haven't won an SBC Conference title and Hudspeth WILL leave after this season to coach somewhere else. It has the potential support, but once the program teeters a bit, everyone runs back to rooting for LSU. ULL's opposition has nothing to do with the SLC, it has everything to do with your facilities and potential. Their arguement that they replace Tulane in CDOA is as laughable as CDOA's arguement they are a better conference. Sunbelt adds AppState and GaSouth and CDOA adds F_U...you tell me who got the better end of the deal. Heck, NMSU and Idaho even outdraw those two clown schools. Quote

coachacola Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 The latest rumors are that JMU has no interest in the Sun Belt and Liberty is not at the top of the list either. Jacksonville State in Alabama may be on their radar now. Quote
coachacola Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 One website has JMU, Liberty and Lamar as the top 3 candidates for the final spot in the Sun Belt. They have a comparison of the three schools. http://fboutpost.blogspot.com/2013/04/comparison-of-james-madison-liberty-and.html Also, according to someone on the Sun Belt board, the Sun Belt may give NMSU a full invite, not a football-only invite. He also says that the Sun Belt wants to invite a FCS school now but they want an extra year to get ready for the move. Quote
Guest Crawfish Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I have heard that the inclusion of NMSU as an all sports member is now very likely. I believe that the WKU president was pushing hard to keep them from getting a full invite on the first round. Now that WKU no longer has a vote, I think they NMSU will get the nod for an all sports membership. IMO, the problem the Cards face is the eastern biased that schools like Troy have. They and now the GSU twins plus ASU will be pushing the conference eastward. Having said that, I do not believe that JMU is ready to accept membership in the conference and Liberty has some negatives to overcome. I am also of the belief that the conference realignment is not over and the conference will eventually lose at least one, but more likely 2 more members. At that point I would think Lamar would definitely get an invitation if they have not already. BTW, the Troy person has demontrated a lack of creditability by making this statement about UL; "They have been talking about a $100 million dollar face lift for 10 years." In fact the Cajuns just announced the stadium improvements in their "Master Plan" on 3-21-2013. (see link below) http://www.ragincajuns.com/news/2013/3/21/ADMIN_0321130443.aspx?path=baseball Quote
