Vroo Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Dieter Kurtenbach @dkurtenbach Lamar is in 4th. RT @dixiefriedsport: @dkurtenbach About what I would've thought, but I've heard Lamar is more ready than SHSU. Quote
lu cards Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 lamar is the most fbs ready school in the slc. Quote
coachacola Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Joshua E Parrott @JoshuaParrott Some argue Appalachian St, Georgia Southern, Lamar & Sam Houston St have more upside than NMSU. But #SunBelt needs FBS team right now. Joshua E Parrott @JoshuaParrott @dixiefriedsport Lamar makes sense being in geographical footprint of Sun Belt. Ga Southern & App St=would be solid. NMSU=Who knows. Matt Barber @dixiefriedsport @JoshuaParrott @dkurtenbach About what I would've thought, but I've heard Lamar is more ready than SHSU. I'm far removed from those 2 though Quote
coachacola Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Jack @WACJack WKU and NMSU, too? #CUSA If true then that's FAU, MTSU and WKU leaving the Sun Belt. Does that mean App State, Georgia So and SHSU get in and Lamar doesn't? Quote
jdcurran235 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I hope what Jack is saying is not true. I would really like to see both SHSU and LU go. BUT LU for sure. Quote
Guest BigRed2010 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I would be shocked if these conferences are through with their realignments. The MWC hasn't made any moves yet. Some of these schools that are now in the new Big East and new CUSA may not be happy with their new conference mates. UTEP, Tulsa, Boise State, San Diego State may all be looking to going to or back to the MWC. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens. Quote
jdcurran235 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Just tweeted Jack and he said LU is #4 on the SBC expansion list. BEHIND SHSU Quote
jdcurran235 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 We should get a poll going to see who thinks we will get and SBC invite this coming year. Quote
coachacola Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Dieter Kurtenbach @dkurtenbach Western Kentucky and New Mexico State WILL NOT be announced with FAU and MTSU. They will have to wait for the next shift. Quote
jdcurran235 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 I saw that but there are some tweets later that say they are going. I think it is still very fluid right now. Quote

jdcurran235 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 It is amazing that slc people hate on Lu so much. I would think they would not mind us since we were former slc members. Quote
coachacola Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 If it happens, it happens. I'm not that worried about this stuff anymore. No matter how all this shakes out the same big power conferences will still have most of the money, power and prestige. Schools like Lamar will still be left fighting for the leftover crumbs, no matter if they are in the SLC or the SBC. I don't really care what the few fans on the Sun Belt forum say about Lamar, they have zero influence on what happens. I want to see Lamar in the SBC, and I think it'll happen soon, and it'll be with all the leftover small market SBC schools. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing because stability can be a good thing for a conference. Quote
LAZEEK Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Maybe the LU coaching staff was right in telling recruits that LU is going to the SBC. Quote
coachacola Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 The teams that are leaving (UNT, FIU, FAU, MTSU) are the ones that really haven't had that many good seasons. CUSA seems to be reloading mostly with schools that haven't much success or have new programs (UTSA, ODU, Charlotte). The Sun Belt could end up with solid football schools in small markets, which I think isn't necessarily a bad thing if they can win. ULM showed this year with their small budget they can make some noise in the FBS. Both App State and Georgia Southern have good fan bases and consistently win at the FCS level. The Sun Belt could become a stable conference because nobody seems to want small market schools. Quote

coachacola Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Brent Thibodeaux @BrentThibodeaux Rumors that the #SunBelt is reviewing a scenario to add #Lamar and #SHSU to entice #TXST to stay. In my opinion, it wouldn't help at all. Quote
lu cards Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 http://stationcaster.com/player_skinned.php?s=511&c=2791&f=850751 after listening to this i think lamar may have pulled the trigger.i know he never named any schools but in my mind he was describing lamar. Quote
Mike Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 There are strong indications that this could have some legs. I guess we'll find out something official soon but the smoke is thick from this one. Quote
jdcurran235 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I don't think he was necessarily talking about us. Quote

jdcurran235 Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 He mentions a 1 pm meeting which is a specific event. Maybe he knows something. But people have come on the board and lied before. So I am still wait and see. Quote
