coachacola Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 my favorite was woodard going for it on 4th at midfield...with a run up the gut? 4th and 2 against one of the best run defenses in the FCS. Does anyone understand that decision? It's early in the game, no score, ball in LU territory, SHSU plays great defense, why risk it and give SHSU a short field to work with? Like earlier games, giving the opponent a short field results in a TD. A punt would have probably resulted in a 0-0 score heading into the 2nd quarter. Quote

Guest CardAmbassador Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Was following the game on my phone yesterday, (I was in San Antonio with family for my nephews air force graduation) Got really excited that we almost didn't give up a TD in the first quarter against SHSU, thought there was hope at half time still to make it respectable, but I don't think our defense can survive with the amount of time they're probably spending on the field against teams like SHSU, need some help from the offense in games like that. jdcurran235 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Look at time of possession. Our defense was not very good. Allowing 500 yards is just not good. Quote
puddin tane Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 our defense is DivII good...FCS bad...it is what it is...all the "on the field too long", is starting to get old...it's just bs from people looking for a glimmer of hope how the hell do you give up that long pass before half? nobody in the same area code SHSU's 4th string back ran thru our arm tackling d Quote

To be fair about the SHSU running backs though, their first three back would likely start and be all-conference worthy for any team in the SLC. Keshawn Hill and Ryan Wilson are very very good running backs. Quote
puddin tane Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 ha..not at LU....Adrian Peterson would be 1 yard and a cloud of dust i think the defense quit longgggg before then Quote

Hmmm. We ran the ball 41 times for 86 yards...NOW THAT IS EXCITEMENT!! Quote
