Lamar played a solid game on the road tonight. SELa only played 8 players and might have been worn down in OT.
-
No offense from BB Knight tonight.

No offense from BB Knight tonight.
-
Lamar is in good shape as per personal fouls except for White, who has 4.
-
Thought Lamar showed some maturity tonight against a good team, especially BB Knight. Got really good minutes from Buckley and White. Thought Cards wore Nichols down with their full court defensive pressure.
Lamar MBB really could make some hay in the SLC standings on this road trip. A&M-CC plays at Nichols Monday, so a Lamar win at UIW keeps them in 2nd place, while the 3rd team drops down. Hope Nicholls wins since Lamar owns tie-breaker against them.

Didn't get to catch hardly any of the game but did see the very end. Cards win 72-68 in another come from behind game. Looking at the stats, Davis only played twelve minutes scoring only two points and had four fouls. Was this just a bad game for her?
She got 3 early fouls and sat most of the game. Weems had a monster game - scored from everywhere - 27 points.

I was calculating that if McNeese would be paying Wade via home ticket sales, it would come out to $13 per ticket assuming they sell out every home game.
-
Has anyone heard anything about any new signees?
-
Will Wade, McNeese MBB coach has signed a 5 year contract extension for a reported $700,000/year. This is more than double any other SLC MBB coach. It also includes buyouts of $1.25 million this year, and $1.0 million the following years.
Wade has been rumored to being approached by DePaul University, plus others.
I do not believe the buyout costs will stop any of the big schools from going after him.
McNeese is currently projected to be a #12 seed in the NCAA tourney if they win conference and the SLC tourney.

SELA beats McNeese, A&M beats Lamar, conference really tightens up.
-
For what it is worth, SeLa is leading McNeese men in the 1st half in Hammond.
-
Nice win for the Cards. Pryor and White had great games for Lamar. The bench has been a real strength so far in conference, hope we keep getting better. And this team has only 1 senior (Pryor).
UNO had some athletic players, but the lack of a true point guard is really hurting them.
-
UNO is averaging taking over 30 3pt shots per game. The attempted 4 in the 1st half.
-
Johnson of UNO was the NCAA leading 3 point shooter and is leading the SLC with a 23 points per game average. In the first half he has 2 points and zero field goals. Pryor is on him like white on rice!
-
Attendance was listed as 2500 for the game. Might be a season high.
BTW, McNeese looked to have another Saturday night sell out with 4200.
-
Lamar gets a solid win over SELa that had match-up problems with the Lamar line-up. Hamilton was too quick for their bigs to handle.
Nice to be in the upper echelon of the conference, but not confident it will last.
Lamar had single digit turnovers tonight which goes a long way in not beating yourself, but struggled a bit at the free throw line.

Cards come out slow - piss poor shot selection
-
Lamar gets a three-point win, 65-62. Dean leads Lamar in scoring with twenty points, followed by Davis with nineteen and sixteen rebounds. Davis fouled out with about twenty seconds remaining. Forty-nine total fouls called and while it was split evenly, seemed like there were a lot of questionable calls and some obvious missed calls, but mostly there were just too many to allow for any real flow of play.
Was at the game. Lamar shot selection was good, but would not fall. Also missed lay-ups.
Officiating was horrible, maybe the worst I have ever seen. Only consistent thing about the officiating was inconsistency. Bad calls both ways. Called 10 second violation on UNO at 7 seconds, obvious with the shot clock. Way too many charging fouls that should have been blocking or a no call. Awarded a couple of shooting fouls when the player was not shooting and not in the bonus. Officiating was junk basketball.

The Legacy Center at McNeese has a posted capacity of 4,242. Looks like they have sold out twice this year.
The Montagne Center is really big for programs of Lamars size. Even bigger than some of the elite programs. It holds 2,000 more than Dukes Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Not going to diminish the fact that it has been years since Lamar actually came close to half filling the Montagne, but the video usually doesn't show enough of the crowd to tell what is really there and they rarely show more than the first few rows except when panning up to show the pep band. I think no matter who is the coach it will take years to get back to the crowds of the early to mid-nineties and maybe never with the ability to watch the games on ESPN+. For me the question becomes, there are twelve conference games left including two with Corpus and one more with McNeese. How many games should and how many games will Lamar win? Does Lamar finish the regular season with at least seventeen wins?
Last nights crowd was listed just under 1500. Was the largest student turn-out of the season from my view in section F. Other than McNeese this year, Lamar is probably near the top in average home attendance in the SLC. HBC and others are showing crowds of around 500 or less. Plus mid-week games with poor weather will not draw.

Lamar Ladys (10-4, 4-0) host the Texas A&M-Commerce (7-7,2-2) at the Montagne Center tonight.
-
The difference in the game is McNeese has attempted and made a lot more free throws. I am listening to the game so maybe the Cardinals are out of position, I do not know.
39 total fouls called. Typical for a womens game.
Attendance was posted as 3500, 3400 being inbred coon-asses.
-
Cards hop across the river tonight to take on 14-2 McNeese tonight. Cowcrap have won their last 9 games and are undefeated at home. Should be a hostile crowd tonight, McNeese had 4200 inbreds in the stands for last Saturdays game versus SELa.

3 star out of New Jersey high school. Small, but quick at 5ft, 7in and 180lbs. Seems to be a good kid with no baggage. Offers from Pitt, UConn, BC out of high school and was #5 RB on BC depth chart. Saw very limited playing time.
Might be utilized as a kick returner at Lamar. Has 2 years of eligibility left.

Around the conference, the A&M- Commerce at UIW made it to the ESPN highlights, not for their crappy basketball teams, but because of a big time brawl during the end of game handshake line. Looked like most players on both teams were involved. Court side announcers stated that a young girl in the crowd was injured, and possibly a team manager. UIW lost game in OT.
Interesting to see if SLC Conference office penalizes anyone. Tic Price is the director of conference basketball operations, so he maybe the one to investigate and dole out punishments. My guess it was started by the Catholics since they lost.
Funny thing I noticed on the video, there seemed to be more people in the brawl than in the stands. They did not post their attendance, but could not be over 50!
In the Lamar game tonight, SELa showed an attendance of less than 900. I guess the students were busy studying at that academic powerhouse.
