  1. Just saw where Jordan Mincy (asst @ Florida) has accepted Jacksonville State job today.

ESPN is reporting that OU's Lon Kruger is retiring after 45 years of coaching. The Sooners will probably look to proven Head Coaches

  2. I agree that $300k to $350k is possible, but will Johnson leave Ohio State for a small bump in pay? The Butler job was about twice that amount plus large incentives.

This link will show you Coach Johnsons total financial package at OSU. I believe if he agrees to a couple of guarantee games a year we could afford him and his assistants.

  3. Wow! That's a big jump... may I introduce you to: Matt Sundblad.... Atiim Browne... and ummm, Alvin Brooks?

I stated he was he was on his way to being the best PG. He was not there yet. But he had a better freshman year than those you mentioned. Alvin Brooks was a JC transfer having played his freshman year at Sam Houston.

  4. I would prefer a successful head coach at collegiate level. If we cannot find that person then Maligi appears to be a very good option. We just have not had any luck with assistants in the past. (Of course, I guess we have not had much luck with those with previous head coaching experience either. Lol. Uggh.)

Pat Foster was an assistant at Arkansas before being hire as Billy Tubbs replacement. I know that is a long time ago but we have had success with assistants.

If we go with an assistant instead of a head coach Alvin Brooks III is looking pretty good to me.

  5. Maybe BigRedInsider members should start a Go Fund Me site to pay a signing bonus for a new coach?

Last I knew, the funding for the new football field turf has not been secured either.

I heard Saturday that the field turf has finally been funded and they would start replacing the turf this summer.

  6. My guess is there were communications with University Administration and maybe major funding sources that needed to be satisfied. Doesn't do any good to let a coach go if your not going to be able to get the financial and other support needed to get a quality coach.

Agreed, but that could have been done weeks ago. My concern is it could cost us time in finding a quality coach and in recruiting.

  7. Alvin Brooks III is intriguing but I'd prefer an individual with head coaching experience. I'd also like the coach going up the coaching ladder instead of going down. If you know what I mean?

I hope Marco Born is willing to pay for a good coach.

  8. Looks like Pudden will head home early. Lamar offense still does nothing. Punt to Sam. Sam throws deep on the first play, Lamar defense tips the ball two or three times, and Sam comes up with a catch. Sam runs the ball in for a touchdown for a 28-0 lead with 10:14 left in the half.

Unbelievable, Sam is lucky and good.

  9. Lamar fails to move the ball and Sam returns the Lamar punt 80 yards for their third score. 21-0 with about 12:30 left in the half.

Lamar needs to do something on offense or this game could get out of hand.
