BRI.com's SLC Power Rankings: Week 3

You're crazy to think Lamar is in a better position than SFA and that Nicholls hands down is in last place? Nicholls played 3 FBS schools and BEAT one of them, while Lamar and SFA have piled up on DII schools as their only wins.

McNeese is still getting first place votes after almost losing to a DII team? Why? Because they beat an FBS squad? So did Nicholls and you have them last.

You guys are crazy, however, I think our poll will look similar and I'll have to make this same rant again. There is too much concentration at the top and the bottom of this poll.

Here's how Massey is rating the SLC:

#84 SHSU

#93 McNeese

#121 UCA

#149 SLU

#174 NW State

#187 Nicholls

#189 SFA

#226 LU

Lamar has improved a little from last year, but almost everyone else has improved more.

For FCS only they are:

# 7 SHSU

# 8 McNeese

# 15 UCA

# 22 SLU

# 35 NW State

# 43 Nicholls

# 45 SFA

# 58 LU

out of 127 FCS teams the SLC looks pretty good to me

FWIW, Bacone is rated 596 out of all divisions...then next weeks opponent (Grambling) is 562

Looks like Massey agrees. They have the SLC as #2 behind MVFC. They have our Strength of Schedule @ #1 thanks to Nicholls (#27 SOS overall).

To complete the FCS only list, here's the Massey ranking for the transitioning teams (in the independent grouping).

# 48 ACU (Illinois State this week - First DI team) .............194 overall

# 99 UIW (SHSU this week - 2nd DI team)..........................364 overall

# 110 HBU (bye this week)......................................................473 overall

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little off topic:

There's chat on the ACU board about a possible chance to play Colorado. The CU/Fresno St. game was cancelled because of the floods and won't be rescheduled so CU is looking for someone to play there for a home game. ACU has 11 games scheduled this year (2 with UIW). One of the UIW games is on the weekend CU needs. ACU is not top on the list, but their name was mentioned. Might work if they could get UIW to agree to slip the 10/19 game to 11/23. Both teams are open then.

With NMSU already on ACU's schedule, that would make the 2nd FBS team they would have on their schedule this year.
