QB 22
I know it is under 500 but more interested in why we cannot kj involved in offense more!!
BigNasty92
Since we only play the cupcake teams at home, the only road win that I can remember was against SELA a couple of seasons ago. I bet that's the only one.
LUSportsFan
Close. Just rechecked the schedules for the previous years. I couldn't remember. SLU twice (2010 & 2011) and Nicholls in 2011 so the total in the modern era is 3. Came close a few times. Lost to McNeese by 3 in 2010 (30-27) Lost to Georgia State by 6 in 2010 (23-17) Lost to Northwestern St by 7 in 2012 (30-23) We also had a 10 point loss on the road against UCA last year (24-14). This one would have been pretty good if we could have pulled it off...ranked team and they've never lost on the purple turf. All the other road games have been blowouts. QB 22
Is kj still in doghouse or why is he not on the field all the time, since he supposed to be one of our better players. Something does not add up there. As good as he returns kicks I would let him run the ball on sweeps, wildcat, speed reverse, or something it just seems a waste of talent to me. Card Nation
Against Bacone KJ caught one pass in the first half that i recall and they were going to him again on a go route but coverage over top was good. bacone played cover 2 defense and their safeties were like 20 yards deep negating the go and deep threat. And thats part of the reason why Belgeton and others had more opportunities in the middle of the field and running backs were able to find a little more running room. Im curious to see how Grambling tries to defend us Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

QB 22
Our people need to use formations, motion, etc. to defeat dbl coverage of one man. They can also vertically stretch the field as opposed to horizontally. Never been impressed with our hc or new oc, now that is my opinion only and I may not be correct but that is the way I see. I want a coach who is energetic and a get in your face players coach not a sour faced never looks enthused coach. Now some will not agree and that is your right but we will finish below 500 for the season I believe. Now jump in there and get bashing!! Now some will not agree and that is your right but we will finish below 500 for the season I believe. Now jump in there and get bashing!! I agree with everything you stated. There is so much an offense can do to move the defense so the offense has an advantage. That includes, moving your best player around in different sets so the defense has to adjust. That can also be the gaps between the offensive lineman. If you are playing an All-American DE, to expect our OT or TE to block him might be asking much. The formation and blocking scheme will have a lot to do with our success. If he has big numbers on sacks. The plays called verse a player like that is why you have to scout the other team. You can't always pick on a CB because the DC may roll coverage to help the weaker player. You have to be able to frustrate their best player and his teammates will see that and they will become less confident. While, our team becomes more confident. Now to address, Coach Woodard and his success here. Honestly, the schedule our first year was too hard for a first year program IMHO. I mean, playing McNeese State and almost beating them was awesome but the rest of the teams we played could get video of that game and see how to beat us. Plus, it that game they had over 200 yards rushing. You can't win many football games when the defense allows the other team to control the ball. Plus, we couldn't even make teams one dimensional on offense. They could do whatever they wanted, run or pass. The special teams for the most part sucked! So, I can't name a coach for the money Lamar University was willing to pay do a better job that first season! However, if Coach Woodard can't get this team above .500 maybe a coaching change is needed? I personally don't take lightly the hiring or firing a coach. I'm not the AD, school president, major booster or wealthy alumnus. So, my job isn't to decide if he should be fired. I just know, that we live in a quick fix society and if the team isn't somewhat successful there will be talk of a coaching change. I just hope everyone realizes the SLC this season is LOADED!!! QB 22
Good post but look what UTSA has done in the same amount of time and I believe Coker applied for the lu job? Woodard believes in quick fixes are he would not take so many of other peoples retreads, just saying. Wish we could win more but I believe this job is one coach away! coachacola
Coach Kueck's last job was with Marshall as OC before he was fired. If you read some of the old Marshall message boards from back then a lot of fans were complaining about how conservative and predictable the play calling was.
