LUSportsFan
from lamar.edu "Lamar University officials are pleased with a Fall headcount of 14,054 students. While slightly lower compared to 2012, the headcount remains higher than it was two years ago. University officials credit the slight drop to stronger admissions requirements and are calling the entering class the best in the university's history..." http://www.lamar.edu/news-and-events/news/2013/09/university-announces-fall-enrollment.html
JJWooten
Interesting spin because SFA raised their admission standards and saw an increase in enrollment (which is actually quite common)
BSFwins
What about SHSU? I know a kid committed there for baseball and someone from the same HS is a sophomore this fall. Her brother is another star baseball player. Both baseball players are HS seniors.
LUSportsFan
Interesting spin because SFA raised their admission standards and saw an increase in enrollment (which is actually quite common) That's not what this sfa.edu article dated 9/17/2013 states. SFA listed increased enrollment standards as one of the reasons for a DECREASE from 12,999 in fall of 2012 to 12,772 in fall of 2013. Have they revised the total since then? http://www.sfasu.edu/7068.asp Lamar could have also included another factor SFA listed in their release related to decreased enrollment, record May graduation totals. Lamar also had a record graduation in May. :)
coachacola
Lamar's enrollment did increase after raising admission standards a few years ago. But what's more important is Lamar's terrible retention rate should keep improving each year.

As far as SHSU, we've only slightly increased on standards or not at all for some quantiles. Our enrollment growth is because of The Woodlands branch. Guest CardAmbassador
Coach is right, the biggest thing is retention now. I'm fine with enrollment decreasing due to admission standards, it's a waste of time to educate someone who probably wont finish their degree.
