Is it just me noticing that? yup...and it aint much of a read option if ya always hand it off how many times did Harrington run out in the flats uncovered? came down to coaching and we got out coached...damndest 3 plays I've ever seen...with a timeout thrown in for good measure...Defense..hellacious first half..laid an egg in the 2nd half....UCA's 2nd and 3rd string qb's kicked our butts.....dammit...thought we had this game Quote

This loss is on OC!!! But I guess it's a moral victory! What a joke!!! I am so sick and tired of losing!!! I am ready to throw in the towel. What idiotic play calling on that last series!!! Not only did we throw it 3 times in a row but we basically ran the same stupid play twice in a row!!! Someone PLEASE tell me why in the HELL would we roll out it to the shirt side of the field not once, but twice in a row??!! Good lord, is the idea to try and give the defense as little field possible to have to defend?? STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!!! Quote

I've been keeping my distance for a while now because it's hard to say anything nice. I realized last year that Woodard just doesn't have what it takes to win. He is always unprepared, he hires the OC he recruits the players and he sets the tone for the team. We will never be more than a .500 team with Woodard. Quote

We have competed 2 weeks in a row against a couple of good teams (one Top 10 and the other Top 20). We had one for sure TD pass dropped, 6 rushing yards in the first half (which is just pathetic), and I don't know how many big pass plays on 3rd down. That's what I was wondering. Corner was on him tight but I cut my eyes to the safety right there. He was coming in timing it, playing center field on it. How did he not knock it away? Crazy good catch I guess. In the old days you could time it and blow up the receiver. That's what happened to Ed Hickey on that last pass play against McNeese back in fall of 1988 you were talking about. Quote

eagle eye Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I admit I was frustrated when I left the stadium last night. That was one winnable game and we let it slip away. I agree that we should run the ball especially when we needed that first down late. Against Oklahoma State we didn't pass one time on the last drive which made me mad because the give up Coach Ray showed and now we air the ball out to the exclusion of the run? We had time and all we needed was a field goal. Sheesh, sometimes you feel like we are doing so well DESPITE the coaching. A 26-24 loss is no shame to a team like UCA unless you look at how depleated their team is because of injuries. Dammit all we should have won and I'm glad we are now competitive in conference but to lose like last night is maddening. I have one last thing to say. Good effort Cardinals, you played hard all game. It's hard to win when your coach is an idiot. :'( Quote

We don't sell out ANY games. We've been playing pretty well with the exception of the Oklahoma state embarrassment. It is a huge conference home game. And it is homecoming and we have about 6k or 7k. Pathetic. Granted, for the SLC it was probably really good crowd but don't we have the largest city of the teams in the SLC? I expect more. And I want us to WIN. I think good fan support helps us win. Quote

For comparison, here's the attendance yesterday around the SLC (from ESPN box scores): McNeese - 15,352 SFA - 12,090 LU - 10,738 NW State - 8,383 I believe Lamar would get 15K+ at each game if they were winning like McNeese or SHSU, but with their track record will that ever happen? I didn't say the whole team is stagnant, just the offense. The defense has improved a lot since year two. The offense is still struggling to score. The play calling seems to questionable week to week. Fake punts at midfield early in games, throwing when they should be running,or running when they should be passing. In 2007 SFA was winless. In 2009 they won 10 games. SELA was 3-8 in 2011, this year they have already won 5 games. I don't see these types of improvements happening for LU. Does anyone think the offense will be dramatically better next year? Quote

Maybe tickets sold but not people in attendance. Kind of like Lamar having 5,000 at a men's basketball and my 11 year old can see there isn't over 3,000 people there... Now, I do see improvement with the team. I think by the scores it is obvious. Why is it not a problem questions coaching decisions about why we didn't try to score leading a team by 50 but not questioning the fact a pass play was called but why a rollout to the short side of the field?!?! I know I'm not alone in wondering the play calls on the final series. Quote
