Andrew Chernoff@ADChernoff 5h Lamar football defensive coordinator Bill Bradley to retire... Will help with transition this spring. New D-coordinator for fall

Woodard said he'll stick around for spring practices and help with the transition.

A lot of turnover on the defensive side of the ball on the field and on the sideline...hopefully the new players gel with the new coaches well enough to excel on the field...wonder if Allen Johnson knew Bradley would be retiring?...seemed like he might have been a candidate to fill the D-Coordinator position if he had stayed

Thinking about Bradley leaving and the DC coaching change, with spring practice starting Monday and Bradley running the defense for the spring, I wonder how this will work with a new DC starting after spring and really only getting the fall to get familiar with the personnel and putting "his" stamp on the defense. Seems like it would be better if the new DC was working the spring practice. Wonder why they are not waiting until after they name a new DC to start spring practice? On the surface, hiring a new DC before spring makes more sense to me. But what do I know??

North, I agree...it makes sense to me. It seems like a new defensive scheme would be hard to learn right before the season starts. I would assume/hope the brain trust at LU has a plan.

Lamar will continue to run the 3-4 with same/similar schemes. The new DC will be promoted within the present staff so there is no need to delay spring practices. Bradley will stay through the spring to help the new DC transition. The only question for now is whether the new DC will be comparable to Bradley and I have no answer for that one at this time.

A little bird told me (CARD) 8) that coach Mc Gallion is taking over as the D.C. ?????? anyone else hearing that?

I guess that means they need a linebacker coach. Should of had that in place this spring.

Is Eric Hicks still on staff?...he was a GA working with the linebackers

Hicks is still on board and has been working with the LB's for at least a year now. Hicks is an outstanding coach. LU has all the coaches they need. Right now they are making the transition and adjustments. No need to sweat. LU will be making a run at the title this year. :-X
