LUSportsFan
For anyone interested, here's a link to the HBU Football Stadium Construction webcam. The field was installed last year. This year's construction project adds the stands, concessions, etc. link from hbuhuskies.com http://hbuhuskies.com/sports/2014/6/24/GEN_0624144816.aspx
KABrother88
So the rendition on the HBU website shows seating only on the home side bit then the Wikipedia page says a capacity of 10,000...I have a hard time seeing a 10k seat side in that picture...it looks to be being built similar to BISD's stadium where the lower tier doesn't have many rows...that stadium holds just a little over 10,000 total but has 2 sides. Here's the page with the rendition...click on the field (lower left corner) to view http://www.hbu.edu/About-HBU/The-Campus/The-Future-of-HBUs-Campus.aspx#
LUSportsFan
I wondered the same thing about the capacity shown in Wikipedia. I seem to recall the initial capacity would be somewhat less than 10,000 starting with seating only on one side. On the other hand, it might be something changed after Bob McNair's donation last year. There may have been some other supporters chip in after that. I've tried to find updated articles about the stadium project, but haven't been successful. At any rate, it is nice to see the work in progress. I know HBU will be glad to have a real home field. LUSportsFan
Mystery is solved, I think.... HBU's media guide for the 2014 season is showing 5,000 as the capacity. I updated Wikipedia based on the media guide. My understanding is that 10,000 will be the capacity after future phases of construction. Cplatt
Start basic and build around it as you grow as a program. Lamar does not have the real estate to expand really unless its up. Lamar will never have the assets or funding anyhow to produce one of those upic home field advantage type stadiums. But if you only fill have the stadium most of the time, no need to expand.
