coachacola Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Anthony Beard is considered a grandpa by some of his teammates. But the fifth-year senior linebacker from Lumberton doesn't mind the jabs. In fact, his extra time at Lamar University has some advantages, he said. "They joke around and ask me if it's my 10th year in college," Beard said with a laugh. "But being one of the oldest guys on the team, I feel like I have that mentorship. I mentor the young guys and make sure they do the right things." So far this season, Beard has been one of the unquestioned leaders on the Cardinals' defense. He is third on the team in tackles (19) tied for first in tackles for loss (3.5) and the leader in sacks (1.5). http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/lamar/article/Lumberton-grad-is-LU-s-leader-in-sacks-5764328.php Quote
LU Cardinal Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 dude was a beast at Lumberton until a knee injury playing RB hurt him. It's amazing what he's come back from to be such a productive college player. Nice job Anthony Beard! Quote
