coachacola Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Saturday's game is slated to kick off from Guidry Stadium at 3 p.m. and can be heard live on KLVI AM 560. Lamar Game Noteshttp://grfx.cstv.com/graphics/icon-acrosmall.gif | Nicholls Game Noteshttp://grfx.cstv.com/graphics/icon-acrosmall.gif | Live Audio | Video | Live Stats The Lamar Cardinals (4-3/1-2 SLC) look to get back in the Southland Conference race as they travel to Thibodaux, La., to face the Nicholls Colonels. Lamar has split its last four games and slipped a game below the .500 mark after a disappointing 61-34 setback to No. 9 Southeastern Louisiana last week. The game was a lot closer than the final score would lead readers to believe. Lamar trailed by only seven with less than two minutes remaining in the third quarter before the Lions responded with 27 consecutive points. Big Red is now placed in the unenviable position of taking on a winless Nicholls team that is coming off its best offensive showing of the season. The Colonels' winless record is less a reflection of the team's talent than it is of the adversity endured by the team. After getting out to a slow start, head coach Charlie Stubbs was forced to step away from the program, and eventually resign, due to health reasons. Stubbs has been replaced by interim head coach Steve Axman. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/101714aaa.html Quote

Card Nation Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 The best played game of the year in my opinion. Nichols is winless on the season, but just came off of their best performance against SFA where they went into the half 7-7 and eventually lost 40-20. SAM just lost to Northwestern.... the Southland is crazy this year... Quote
coachacola Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Senior quarterback Caleb Berry became Lamar's all-time leader in completions, yards of total offense and passing yards Saturday as the Cardinals overwhelmed Nicholls, 63-21. The victory improved Lamar to 5-3 overall, and 2-2 in Southland Conference play. The Cardinals have tied their record for wins since reviving the program, with four games remaining on the 2014 schedule. "We are very happy to pick up the win here this afternoon," said head coach Ray Woodard. "There are still a lot of positive things that can happen for our team. Now we get to head into the open week with a 5-3 record, we can take care of some of the injuries and get focused on the final stretch run. I like where we are as a team." http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/101814aaa.html Quote
