Notes from the presser:

Keegan is the #2 back behind Harrington, Handy moved to WR to get playing time.

Dante Catteneo will start, freshmen Joseph Gonzales and Ethan Cohen will play a lot on the OL.

Woodard will not name the starting QB until closer to game day.

Lots of freshmen will play, especially on defense. Not because of injuries but because they've earned spots.

DL is 8 deep and they'll all get playing time.

Cupcake opponent. Does nothing for the players or the school. Might as well play Sabine Pass.
The Lamar University Cardinals return 45 letterwinners and 20 starters from last season's record-setting squad, but none of those players are quarterbacks. In fact, LU head coach Ray Woodard doesn't even have a quarterback on his roster who was here last season – not even as a scout team player. The Cardinals' current situation is the primary factor in the team being picked eighth in the Southland Conference preseason polls, despite a wealth of returning talent at every other position on the field.

Although the quarterbacks have no returning LU experience, it is a situation Woodard is familiar with having started the program from scratch six years ago. His first step was to promote offensive line coach Chuck Langston to coordinator, then he added transfers Carson Earp (Navarro College) and Joe Minden (Stephen F. Austin). On National Signing Day, Woodard signed prep standout Brett Cox from Sachse, Texas. Prior to the start of spring camp, Woodard hired Ramon Flanigan to work with the quarterbacks.

Lamar running backs coach Brian Morgan was at ends with Cardinals coach Ray Woodard throughout fall camp.

It wasn't anything personal, only personnel.

Specifically Michael Handy, whom Morgan wanted to remain in the Cardinals' backfield whereas Woodard felt it was in the best interest of Handy and the program for him to move to receiver.

In the end, Morgan lost the battle.

BEAUMONT, Texas – As the Lamar University football team makes the final preparations for the 2015 season-opener against Bacone College, fans are invited to enjoy the day at Provost Umphrey Stadium getting ready for the game. There will be numerous events for fans to take part in leading up to kickoff.

In addition to the tradition of tailgating, the LU athletics department will once again be sponsoring the Fun Zone beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Fun Zone is a pregame area geared toward children featuring family outdoor games. The KONA Ice truck will also be hand selling ice treats.

After recording its best season since re-starting the program, and one of the best seasons in school history, the Cardinals entered preseason camp with a lot of excitement. For the first time since its resurrection, the Cardinals enter the year receiving votes in the preseason top 25 poll. Oddly, that recognition didn't translate into much respect from the voters in the conference preseason polls being picked eighth by the league coaches and sports information directors.

The lack of respect from conference's preseason polls had a lot to do with the fact that LU graduated the school's all-time leading passer, Caleb Berry, and because the team doesn't return a quarterback from last season. The returning players haven't allowed that to serve as a distraction.

Guess it's not gonna be posted before the season even starts...

I thought it might be out there, but not linked yet. I did a search on "ISSU - LU 2015 Football Media Guide" and got a lot of hits for LSU. :) So I guess it really isn't out yet.

As a side note, it looks like a little work is still need on the lamarcardinals.com website. A lot of the links still go to the wrong place or go nowhere. It will be nice when it is tweaked, though. The increased frequency of the articles is nice.
