Lamar QB Carson Earp related to renowned gunslinger

Quarterbacks sometimes are likened to gunslingers, but the comparison might be more justified in Carson Earp's case.Earp, a junior quarterback at Lamar, is a descendant of Wyatt Earp, legendary lawman of O.K. Corral fame.

"I always get those comparisons being a quarterback," Earp said. "It's a cool comparison. Not everyone can say they're related to someone like Wyatt Earp."

Earp, who is seventh cousins with Wyatt, grew up with people constantly asking whether there was a connection.
