I believe UT is playing with two QB's and they are ranked in the Top 25 at the FBS level. I've seen a number of teams with 2 QB's playing and I don't see that changing at Lamar this year. Bevil is currently our best QB and Johnson is the future.

BTW, did you hear Coach Woodard or the players talk about the O-line? I think it is a pretty good unit. Zero sacks in 3 games. We've probably rushed for more yardage through 3 games than we did all season.

Come on B360, some good teams do play with 2 QBs (Florida a few years back), but for the most part, they don't. It was kind of funny to hear him say that he's forcing teams to scheme against 2 QBs, but really, they're not all that different from each other. I was surprised to see they hadn't given up many sacks, but I guess they've just been throwing it away instead (just an opinion, no proof of that). Woodard has an interesting tone to his interviews. I'm not sure I could put my thumb on it, but something seemed different about that compared to most post game interviews.

Sorry to disagree but they are very different. Bevil wants to pass the football and will run as a last resort. Johnson isn't the passer right now that Bevil is but if a WR isn't open he'll use that sub 4.4 forty and run the ball.

I guess you didn't listen to the whole press conference?

LSU played with 2 QB's last year and they were pretty good.

Yes, actually I did listen to the whooooole audio file.

Just because he *says* he wants to throw first, run second doesn't mean he isn't a scrambling QB. They are both scramblers, one just runs a little more than the other. It's not like they're two opposite QBs. That's all I was saying

I've seen Bevil play since he was in HS. He has the ability to run (scramble) but he does that to buy time to find a receiver down field open. He keeps his eyes down field looking for someone open while moving outside the pocket. He rarely runs with the ball down field. Like I said earlier he may run if there is some positive yards to get or he'll throw the ball away.

That is not Jeremy Johnson.

There is no need for shouting on here with all the CAPS. You have your opinion about Lamar (which is much different than mine) as your post before have lead me to think this way.

Bevil only runs a 4.7 forty, you can see everyone who ran and what their time is at lamarcardinals.com. Jeremy Johnson on the other hand ran a 4.35 forty.

I'm sure Coach Woodard will keep using Jeremy on series every now and then and Bevil will get most of the playing time at QB. But, there with still be 2 QB's playing for Lamar.

Sorry, It's not your boy Doty. There are no sack because this is a much better line. You should give props where they are due. LOL

sorry was writing my shift report forgot to take th caps off. I have said before Coach loves to take and put QB's at other positions because they see the field in a different way. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever looses out stays in the huddle.

I'd love to see Johnson in the slot with Marcus Jackson and JJ Hayes at the Wide Outs. Teams wouldn't be able to double team either Jackson or Hayes with the speed of Johnson on the field.

However, that is a coaches decision and I'm not Coach Woodard.

BR360 tell me where I can find exactly the 40 times. I looked and didn't find it.

Well, I wouldn't completely rule this out as I heard Coach Woodard (on his radio show) say that Johnson could play a slot receiver or even run back kick-offs.

With this week off they could do a number of things. If you have Bevil and Johnson on the field at the same time the opponents would not be able to substitute for Johnson playing QB and Bevil moving to the slot where he played a couple of games last year.

Agree it would be a great package but that is a Coach Woodard decision. Plus the kid playing the slot right now caught a TD pass last weekend. It might be awkward telling him he played a great game but Johnson is moving ahead of him without ever practicing the position.

Here is a number: 191/40

Its the number of offensive plays from scrimmage vs the number of runs made by a Qb.

Granted, some of these were probably by design, but most were not. These guys ae for sure helping the O line by not getting sacked. But obvioulsy, they are scrambling their tails off.

191/40, please post a link or something to prove evidence of these numbers. Plus, there are at least 10-15 plays this season in which Johnson has a designed run play called for the QB.

Here's the cumulative stats for the year: http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2011-2012/teamcume.html

I count 191 plays and 32 rushing attempts by the QBs.

The team rushing total after 3 games is 536 yards. How many games last year did it take to get to that number? Plus, I believe we already have 8 rushing TD's compared to 2010 with 1.

Thanks BR360. Looking at the 40 times was very interesting and enlightening. Furthur complicates some already frustrated feelings about personnel moves by the coaching staff.

If you saw Bevil's listed forty time it is different than I quoted earlier as I didn't what the guy to think I was picking on him for the outrageous comment that both our QB's ran sub 4.5 forties as to the reason there have been no sacks.

I hated to break it to him that Bevil ran a 4.8 forty.

Jeremy with a 6.1 yards per carry average, not bad.

I think you'll see Jeremy to start passing the ball more in future games.;)
