Jason Henderson, Lamar's Athletic Director, MUST GO?

Is this who we want as our athletic director?

-Zero people skills

-Zero communication skills

-Lacks personality

-Poor public relations with fans and community.

-Most of his hires have been failures.

-All the Lamar coaches think he is a joke as a leader (athletic director).

-It looks like higher administrators keeps him as a puppet and a robot. He is just a "yes man".

Hiring a consulting firm for a Southland Conference head football coach shows his insecurity as an athletic director!!! *He has zero contacts*

Is this the person we want to lead our university?

Hopefully Dr. Evans, President of the University, realizes what most of us think. Henderson must GO!

Don't read too much into the search firm...they are becoming very common and we aren't the only SLC with an current opening to have hired one.

Ok... So scratch the consulting firm off the list. What about that laundry list above it???? Each point is SPOT ON.

He should be scratching his unemployed ass right now. He's a detriment to our sports programs.. Not an asset.

I didn't argue any other points. I am just trying to clear the air on the use of a search firm since that has be come a point of conversation here. They have become very common recently at both the FBS and FCS levels.

why not just use match.com? comes with a guarantee!

i always figured " consulting firm" was a fancy name for boosters with bucks....

He has to go or be demoted back to his old job, he never has interaction with the athletes, has zero people skills and a bad resume to begin with. Basically got the job because the last AD wanted to coach girls basketball more than filling the AD job, so Henderson slipped in. Need a guy who has been a successful coach at a big program as well as an AD for at least 2 or 3 years at another school. Lamar is under performing in almost every sport on campus something needs to change, sucks seeing my Alma Mater under performing every time I check the scores on the website.

Hey guys, been a while for me. I think the one thing he has going for him is indeed his hires. He did not hire Woodard. He has hired Bruder and Harmony, both of which have done very well. He hired Price under whom the basketball team has improved each year. This year they will finish near the top. It's way too early to call Edwards and Holeman busts as they are still digging our from under the messes the previous coaches made. And last but not least, Davis just signed Lamar's first ranked baseball class in years. He is not the most personable person out there, he can come across as rude and arrogant. However, his coaching hires have been solid, we have been able to upgrade almost every facility through donations received by his departments, and we have a beautiful new softball stadium.

I promise you... 0% of those donations had anything to do with him. Henderson couldn't sell ice water in the desert. Not knocking Tic, but from what I've heard, Henderson hired him under the direction of some of our big $. Not that their $ sports but he also hired the soccer and volleyball coaches. How are those programs doing? I'm still not convinced about Harmony and Davis's impact is yet to be determined. The only one that I think was a solid hire is Bruder. She even gets my old blood pumping! If you can't win or get motivated playing for her, you've don't have a pulse.

Not so fast.Using absolute statements is usually not wise.I know for a fact that Henderson raised the 5 figure money and helped design the new study room for athletes in the Montaigne.I donated to it and saw the cubicles, computers and study tables. It allows tutoring, study and assignment completion before or after practice right outside the court. His decision to build the soccer and softball locker rooms at the same time was proven wise . I can tell you from experience he is good at scheduling athletes to comply with the myriad of NCAA APR and continuing progress(20%rule) requirements and respected by other conference AD's I know.We now have games on ESPN 3 something many teams in our conference don't have.Nobody checks all the boxes but he checks more than some here give him fair credit for.The night at Buffalo Wild Wings Pat Knight's team found out where they were playing in the NCAA's I witnessed Jason immediately on his laptop confirming flights ,rooms and other transportation for the team while the rest of us guzzled beer, ate wings and dreamed about Catamounts. An AD also has to be good at creating and balancing a budget

I think you are the first fan of Jason's that I've EVER encountered. So he scheduled flights and raised 5 figures. Big deal. Not that the study room stuff isn't important (and thank you for donating) but wait till he's going to need to raise millions. He and Evans are about as socially inept as any pair of people in high profile positions that I've ever seen.

How damaging is this poorly planned coaches search going to impact APR? Do you not think his snubbing of Woodard and no showing him at the press conference is going to impact APR? Bad blood or not, that's a straight up, punk ass BITCH move. How do you think that made the players feel about his feelings about their program? After a bad season, especially one pretty bad from the start, morale is at an all time low with players... now you add Jason's b.s. to the mix. Players will leave in droves. Completely sabotaging the great recruiting class Woodard and staff had last year... Immediately putting the new coach in a bind. No foundation to work with and a late start recruiting because of Jason's poor planning.

The guy isn't a leader and lacks the character to deserve to be respected. He was a bad hire to begin with and should probably go back to some sort of compliance or operations position.

I'm not really a fan of Henderson but these are valid points

All valid points indeed. I'm not liking the way the hiring process has gone so far but I will hold judgment and give him the benefit of the doubt. He should feasibly be able to make a pretty good hire, and he had better. Maybe he knows this.
