December 30, 20169 yr Last non-conference game. Should be another blowout win against a lower division school. Just hope that the team has played enough quality opponents that they are ready for conference. At least this year LU isn't opening it's conference season against one of the top teams, but it will still be on the road.
December 30, 20169 yr For those who keep up with HS sports in SETX there is a familiar name on the Huston-Tillotson. Dionte Forney from Nederland. He actually signed with Lamar to play football and basketball way back in 2011. Left Lamar after 1 year and has been well travels since then. He was at Browne Mackey JC in 2013-14, Angelina JC in 2014-15, Concordia in 2015-16, now Huston-Tillotson for 2016-17
December 30, 20169 yr HBU beat Sam in Huntsville. Impressive was the attendance is listed at over 6100.
December 30, 20169 yr Author Final score Lamar 90 - HT 63. Lamar was sloppy in the first half especially on defense. Picked up their game in the second half and completed the blowout as expected. Monday will be the first conference test. New Orleans wins over Abilene Christian. Edited December 30, 20169 yr by geezer
December 30, 20169 yr Thought HTU had some talent, but were not disciplined on the defensive end. Good warm-up game and the officials called close, which should also help in conference. Garth's 3 point shooting continues to be a plus off the bench. Noel & Chapman didn't suit up for the 2nd straight game, but should be ready for the conference opener at Central Arkansas. What are our chances to beat Central Arkansas at their place?
December 30, 20169 yr Author Massey rankings has at as 53% favor for UCA, so while all conference games are probably winnable, this is one that if Lamar is going to out perform expectations they need to win. Also per the rankings Lamar's defense is the worst part of their game.
December 30, 20169 yr Last night the defense was horrible. If Bosha has an asthma flare up like he did last night, they are going to be in big trouble. The sudden weather changes are wreaking havoc on his bronchi.
December 31, 20169 yr Last night the defense was horrible. If Bosha has an asthma flare up like he did last night, they are going to be in big trouble. The sudden weather changes are wreaking havoc on his bronchi. Maybe with Chapman back, Bosha can sit more. I don't understand if Bosha's asthma is hampering his play, why don't we play Owens & Davis more.
January 1, 20179 yr Davis and Owens played in the last game. Bosha doesnt always have issues with his asthma or bronchioconstriction, the meds help. I think he only averages close to 20 minutes a game.
January 1, 20179 yr So other guys play. Coach Price is really good about taking him out of the game when he is struggling to take a deep breath.
