I saw Braden East is headed to Houston. Hope the best for him as that is quite a jump in my opinion.

Southeastern La is definitely the team to beat in softball, having improved to 18-0 in conference play with a sweep of Lamar. For Lamar they have fallen into third place tie with Nicholls but have the tie breaker with them and are two games back of second place who they still have a three-game series with.

Lamar winning streak ends with two run rule losses at Southeastern La.

Do red shirt freshman half to enter the portal?

As of today, three Cards have entered the portal. Lowe and Rob Lee entered during the period available after Brooks was fired and Braden East put his name in early this week after the NCAA Tournament finished. I hope all three find what they are looking for, but I really hope East will return to Lamar. I have major doubts that he will return though.

Ladies keep the winning streak alive with a 10-8 win over Baylor in a mid-week game. Winning streak is now at fourteen games, but will be put to the test come Friday with a weekend series against Southeastern La who is currently the conference leader and undefeated in conference. First game Friday is at 4 PM in Hammond.

OSU finishes the sweep of the Cards 10-3, but the Cards do break the scoring drought.

Lamar used three of their least used pitchers in this game. I don't know if that is because since the Cards were down early Davis decided to save more experienced pitchers if the Cards could make a comeback or if the Cards have more injuries than we know about.

Oregon State takes game two 8-0. Thing I've seen in these first two games is the quality of the OSU pitching and speed of their offense on the base paths. Batting they have gotten to both of Lamar's best pitchers scoring four runs on Olivier this evening.

Cards host #9 OSU for three games. Cards play tough but drop the opener 2-0. Game two is Friday evening at 6:05.

Wasn't he a Brooks commit. Not unusual for guys recruited by the previous coach to look for somewhere else.

Cards get the midweek win over Tarleton, but it's another one that wasn't pretty. Cards get single runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th to take a three-run lead. Cards had a two-run lead after the fourth inning, and the Cards made a pitching change in the fifth. Relief pitcher gave up two hits but no runs in the fifth and got the first out in the sixth before giving up a run scoring double in the top of the sixth followed by another pitching change. The new pitcher gave up a couple of singles allowing the second run to score. Lamar made another pitching change in the top of the seventh getting a one, two, three inning. In the top of the eighth the relievers gave up another run to tie the game. Lamar pitching managed to keep TSU off of the scoreboard in the ninth and tenth before Lamar finally scored two runs on a walk off home run with two out. Lamar returns to action Friday evening hosting UIW.

I've seen plenty of shooters, I want to see some makers especially in clutch time.

Women dropped their first game in the same manner they lost to SFA in the conference tourney. Portland's pressure defense forced too many Lamar turnovers and Oguego never made it back from her late season ankle injury. She was a big loss.

Lamar winds up winning two of three at Corpus Christi, but it wasn't easy. The Cards lost the opening game giving up four runs in the first and only scoring one on the evening. In game two Lamar won 7-3 but had to score six runs over the last five innings. This afternoon Lamar jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the Cards first two innings but then gave up ten runs before scoring one in the top of the sixth before giving up five more runs for CC to go to the top of the ninth with a six-run lead. Lamar managed to score six in the ninth to tie the game and three in the tenth to get the win. Lamar has quality pitching depth. The bull pen is terribly inconsistent. Even in the starting pitching Olivier has been the only one to be consistent so far this season. Despite all of this Lamar is still tied for first and 8-4.

Does anyone know anything about the quality of the three red shirt freshmen from this past year?

The only player I really hope he is able to retain is East. i'm sure there might be another one or two but I wasn't overly impressed with any of the rest of the regulars this past season.

Spring football practice started this week. Article indicates the focus is details and techniques.

Fee's wife is expecting a baby any day, so they have not had the press conference yet as Lamar is letting him stay close to home. I'm sure they'll do a press conference as soon as it feesible.

Foster left in 1986 and is the last coach that wasn't fired. His replacement Abatemarco was at Lamar for two years. I don't remember if he was fired or basically forced to resign after a run in with key supporters. So, it has been forty years since a Lamar HC left to take a job at a more prestigious school.

Lamar women got an invitation to the WNIT which currently is the third-tier post season tournament below the NCAA and WBIT. Lamar women received a first round bye and will play the winner of the Sam Houston and Portland game scheduled for Thursday the 19th. Lamar's game will be between this coming Sunday the 22nd and next Tuesday.
