If this issue makes its way into professional basketball then there's no reason not to ask.

You have to remember Woodard brought his team out during the anthem, so he set a precedent for Lamar partaking in the anthem.

Also, Schultz could have very easily said no comment and moved on. That's what the coach at my alma mater, Arizona State, did.

I'm not a reporter or anything else but a Lamar fan and I wish the question had not been asked because asking it just continued to stir up controversy. If I don't like what I see on the sidelines or on the field and it continues then I personally should either contact the athletic department or quit following Lamar. I understand that as a reporter it is part of your job to continue to follow what is going on but I believe some of the controversy going on across the country today is because of reporters making an issue out of things that will just go away if it was ignored. How many copy cat protesters do you think there would be right now if ESPN had made Kapernicks' not standing for the anthem no big deal. The sad part is that the NFL has a policy that they have failed to enforce yet they think they should be able to suspend a player for a potential criminal issue that was not deemed worthy of an indictment by the judiciary system. Are you going to ask Tic the same question? I can't tell you what his answer might be or what his personal opinion about the protest at the NFL level is, but I can tell you that the anthem is always done while the teams are in the locker room before the basketball games and on days that are double headers with the ladies the anthem is done prior to the ladies game only.

No worries, Chad! Thanks for clearing it up.

Danny, my apologies. If I thought the question was good or bad, I never should have posted it on a message board. No harm intended. With a 1-3 team, i thought there were bigger things to talk about. But no ill-will towards you as a reporter/person.

Agree that Schultz didn't have to answer but at the same time you might have reported that he failed to answer and then thrown in a comment on why he might not have answered. Point is the question didn't have to be asked.

I'm glad you asked. Unfortunately the National Felons League has made it a topic. And, like you said, Woodard had is team on the field during the anthem last year. All of these politically correct feel good coaches, owners, players nauseate me. Unwilling to take a stand for what is right. It's sad that these kids (men???) in the nfl (and some in college) don't realize how blessed they are (and how blessed others are to be in this country).

We are truly Blessed to live in this Country, however there are injustices that need to be addressed. I'm sure the during the lunch counter protests the same questions were asked. Why are they protesting? They should be proud to be in this Country. Last time I checked, anyone is allowed to peacefully protest. Anyone that feels otherwise has that right also. That's the beauty of this Country. That's why I STAND

Really trying to bite my tongue because these social/political debates are so tired and old. But, exactly, why are they protesting? Yes, they can peacefully protest, but why during the anthem? There is no American conspiracy/"systemic oppression" against anyone. Every logical FACT points otherwise. Yes, they should be proud to be in this country. Yes they should be thankful for the very blessed life they have. Is everyone blessed? No. Does everyone have a great life? No. Is it Americas fault that everyone isn't successful, no. Most (based on physical/mental health) everyone has the opportunity to be successful. Some people's path may be more difficult but it's hardly Americas fault. Anyway, either you (the individual) make good life choices, work hard, and do what it takes or you don't (assuming you don't have some disability hampering you).

LMAO, dude get real. I'm not going there with you, but I will say this. Doesn't matter if you agree with the protest, they aren't breaking any laws so there is no need for any rhetoric.

1st Amendment, look it up. If you find the players in any violation of that let me know. Anything else is pure opinion/assumptions. We all know where that Leads. SMH

It's not your first amendment right to do whatever you please while at your job. Well, I guess you can but don't come crying when you get fired. Also, just because you have the right to do something doesn't make it right. We have the right to do all sorts of things but we don't, thank God.

Lol, Damn Dude!!!! Nothing will please you more than to silence the peaceful protest. Why don't you and All the folks that want to take away our 1st Amendment rights go to Capital Hill & confront all those a$&

that are disrespecting America with the underhanded crap going on there. If a Football game gets you more riled up, why don't you go by a Veterans hospital & see how well those fine people are being cared for. It turns my stomach. We're not getting anywhere discussing this on here. I'll be at the next home game tailgating. Feel free to stop by have a bite to eat & diiscusd this matter Man 2 Man. Otherwise we both need to refrain from engaging each other & boring everyone else with our beliefs. I tailgate by the field house, spot close to the tracks at the end. Please don't bite your tongue(wink wink)

Sounds great. I'll try to find you if I can make the next game. I'll do my best not to bite my tongue.

That would be awesome Sir, you're welcome anytime. My Family & I love tailgating & meeting LU fans & Alum. We don't have to agree on everything, and we certainly don't have to hold any animosity because we see certain things differently.
