coachacola Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Mike James is on the Suns roster where he's listed as a PG, but he's not on the depth chart. What's interesting is that the three other PGs ahead of him all played at Kentucky: Bledsoe, Ullis and Knight. We'll see how much playing time he gets. Let's see, Mike James plays for the Suns in the NBA, Brandon Langley plays for the Broncos in the NFL, and Chris Stroud is playing well on the PGA tour. LU just needs someone playing MLB baseball to round out the major sports. Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 James scored 12 points in the opener Wednesday night in only 11 minutes of action...he was 5-10 from the floor and 2-3 behind the arc. Also had 2 rebounds and an assist. Quote
coachacola Posted October 20, 2017 Author Posted October 20, 2017 The Suns got blown out at home by almost 50 points. Maybe he will get a lot of playing time because the team isn't very good. Quote

Was wondering if he only came in cause it was so lopsided...but seeing what he did maybe that will get him more of a shot for increased minutes. Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 In game 2 for James he scored 13 point on 4 of 9 from the field and 4 of 4 from the FT Line in 22 minutes. In game 3 he scored 10 points on 3 of 9 from the field and 4 of 5 from the FT Line. Also had 6 assists in 24 minutes James earned his first NBA start in game 4 and help lead the Suns to their first win of the season. He played 27 minutes and scored 18 points with 7 assists. He was 8 of 10 from the floor and 2 of 4 from three. Quote
coachacola Posted October 25, 2017 Author Posted October 25, 2017 I read that he doesn't have a full one year contract, but a two-way contract, meaning he can only play a max of 45 NBA games. Since the Suns fired their coach and are trading their starting PG then he may stick around for a full year. Quote
coachacola Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 Mike James is having an impact for the Suns as the starting PG. Last night he played 29 minutes, scored 24 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals in the Suns win. Quote
KABrother88 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 James has been given a full contract with the Suns and is the first NBA player to get one after being on the new “two-way deal” with the G-League (the NBA’s developmental league). Through 26 games James is averaging 10.5 points and 4.5 assists per game. With the full contract, James is set to nearly triple his year’s salary from ~ $213,000 to ~ $510,000. http://m.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/lamar/article/Former-Lamar-basketball-standout-takes-next-step-12413797.php#item-39786 Quote
