Missed most of the game do to family outing. End of third quarter and McNeese is ahead 13 - 0. Lamar defense has really played well so far in this game. McNeese scored early in the second quarter following a pass interception nd then got a field goal near the end of the half. McNeese got another field goal on their second possession of the second half. Lamar offense has had very little sustained success. Only five possessions of more than four offensive plays out of 14 possessions so far.

End of game, final score McNeese 13 - Lamar 3. Lamar's defense has continued to get better all year. Will have to wait to see what the recruiting class turns out to be. Hopefully Lamar will get some help on both lines. One positive from this season is the players continued to play hard even though there wasn't much success.

Thank God that misery is over! Defense played pretty good. Defense seemed to start getting better a few games ago when we switched to 4 down linemen. The offense stunk tonight. I guess McNeese defense had something to do with that. McNeese qb is not good.

McKenzie way too inconsistent, wind was brutal but he missed too many easy throws, and we need help at wide receiver. But it was nice to see how well the defense played.

defense played well tonight, it helped that McNeese can't pass worth a damn

offseason wants...new DC, new OC, new wr coach...and hoping we don't end up running the veer

Seems you forgot to add a Coach to the Wish List. This was a long Season. We should have beaten McNeese. Pee Wee OC could have scored from the 2yd line. Defense probably had more yds than Offense.

Hate to do it again but agree 100%. This guy ain’t the answer. I guess we could say we saw some improvement from the defense but I’d give the coaching job a big fat F. Very long season. We definitely should have won this game. Defense gave us two golden opportunities (of course, 13 apparently had a boneheaded play on the first interception??? I didn’t see what he did but we were still in a very good spot). And first and goal on the two and you can’t friggin score??!!! Maybe I’m wrong but Wanza looks like a player, I know he needs his hands on the ball more...but I guess that’s a debate for next season now. (And puddin, we can pass the ball to him, screens, swing passes etc)

Apparently we are stuck with Schulz for at least another year since he can just say it was all Woodards fault. Oh, and it will be interesting to see what happens with Morse. Obviously they decided early on he wasn’t part of the mix. So, was that so he could take a redshirt year? I think it has to be that, or Morse needs to pack his bags.

Obvious that they are wanting to redshirt both Morris and Jack Dallas. We need lineman in the worst way. Defense got consistently better, but offense was stagnet most of the year. Need a big running back to pound the ball on short yardage! Lots of underclassman played, but just concerned if they have the talent to compete in our conference. "can't make chicken salad outta chicken sh*t", so we better recruit some talent.

I'm going to agree with this 100%. This season was all up to coaching. There are little things that weren't happening all season long that should have been fixed by game 3.

1) Nothing you can do about the size mismatch if the players are't there to use. This is mainly on the D-Line size. No one was able to plug holes all season long and that absolutely killed us.

2) Seems like to me that the DB's were never coached to turn and look for the ball. Every time they did, they got an interception.

3) The offensive play calling and lack of trust in any QB this season was absolutely atrocious. It's very embarrassing. There were a lot of young players (freshmen) on the OL this season that I thought did a remarkable job considering the circumstances. That gives me hope for a few seasons.

4) As far a head coach is concerned, I think he is a good coach but was put in a very hard position coming in late and putting a staff together in that short amount of time. He had a great OC in Brad Bedell but he took the bigger call to Boise State. All of the other coaches hired to his staff were done very quickly and it's hard to get that many people and new players on the same page that fast. He'll be here another year and I hope me makes the changes that HAVE to be made.

5) There were games this season against really good teams that I saw sparks of real football but the execution and discipline were not there. Again, this all falls back on coaching. These players that Woodard recruited for the last 2 years are have a ton of talent and need to be "coached" into being better.

6) They have to find an upside to playing for this team. The moral is at an all time low and it is very hard to get kids to play they heart out when they feel like nothing is going make a difference. This is going to make it hard to keep players and also recruit them.

In closing, We have the recipe for a great team but all of the little issues all over the field and program have to be worked out first.

We had two big running backs on the bench. The big kid from A&M wasn't very good so he didn't play. I don't care how big the running back is, lil dudes can run too...ask Harrington. And, I'm sorry, I don't think we had 2-9 talent...we have 5 win talent at a minimum. Yes, out d-line was small but either our scheme was crap or the players had no clue what to do. It also appeared to me that the defense got better when they switched to 4 linemen from 3.

Offensively, the qb position was a pretty glaring weakness. I think we would have been ok with Allen the whole year but for some reason he didn't start and he got hurt. From what I saw, the best PASSING QB (Morse) never played a down. McNeese managed to go 9-2 with what appeared to me to be the 2nd worst QB I saw all year (the only one that was worse was the UT Permian Basin qb). Also, other than an occasional trick play, our offense was predictable and bad. Rarely tried to stretch the field, rarely threw passes longer than 10 yards. Rarely had wide receivers getting open/separation.

this coach has no desire to pass.

One thing that drove me crazy Saturday night was the continual running of the option with McKenzie. He’s just not the guy to run that effectively. Then after we get the pick returned inside the 5, we run twice after we had had no success running right at them. Then on 3rd down was call a pass and McKenzie had to tuck it and nearly got killed. When he went down I just knew we were going to have Robinson playing QB the rest of the game or burn a RS. I was shocked to see McKenzie come back in the next drive because he was wobbly when he got up. Another think when talking about being in the redzone that made me curious, Hawthorne and Howard both play the same WR position but when you have 2 guys who are 6’4” why not have a package of plays where they are both on the field together to take advantage of their size in scoring situations? Geeez, I was literally saying the same thing Saturday with my face in my hands. They had 4 chances to throw a fade to the back of the end zone when they were on the 3. Hell, Robinson has great hands. Every throw over the middle to him was caught for additional yards and first downs. That kid is an athlete! We simply are just not calling the right plays.

McKenzie is def not an option QB. But if he can't run the option or keepers, the line has to give him pocket time and the receivers need to move when he is scrambling. It's like they just stop on the route once he's out of the pocket. I've never seen anything like it.

i remember one play, McKenzie was scrambling around and King just stopped in his tracks and did didly squat..nada...nuthin

Hats off to McKenzie, tho. He hung around and finally got his shot this year. Got stuck in one of the crappiest offensive schemes I've ever seen and gave it his all.
