geezer Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Following Wednesday's games Lamar men are tied with Northwestern St for fifth place at 10-9 and a game back of Sam for fourth. Saturday Lamar women play at 2:00 followed by the men at 4:30. The men are in position to get into a tie for fourth place Saturday as Sam closes their season out at SFA and Lamar has McNeese at home. While this game probably isn't a must win for Lamar it is for McNeese so LU better be ready to play. McNeese has to win or have a UCA or AMCC loss plus be on top of the tie breaker to make the tourney. For Lamar it is mostly about seeding, but considering SFA is obviously favored to defeat Sam, depending on the tie breaker with a win Lamar could possibly get a first round bye. Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Based on tonight’s results, if I am looking at it correctly, Lamar is assured a spot in Katy since NWSt and CArk playing each other Saturday with the probability that McNeese is on the outside looking in. The 8 teams for the men will be SFA (wrapped up #1 seed), ACU, Nicholls, SHSU, Lamar, Northwestern State, TAMU-CC, & Central Arkansas ( not necessarily in that order). Quote
geezer Posted March 5, 2020 Author Posted March 5, 2020 I agree that is the most likely, except with a McNeese win, a UCA win and an AMCC win you wind up with five teams all with 10-10 records and four slots. I think Lamar still gets in based on likely tie-breakers but who knows the order. Quote

baller Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 If Lamar Wins,Nortwestern St loses and Sam loses which is the most likely scenario,we tie for 4th with Sam.BUT the conference announced that Sam has the tiebreaker for 4th seed and the bye.We still get commisioners cups points reflecting a 4th place tie finish but not the tourney 4th place seeding.If there is a three way tie with the Demons and Bearkats we still don’t get the 4th place bye.McNeese is reeling and has some injury issues.If we play well we should win.
