Cardinals Set to Play Two in New Orleans

Featured Replies

My expectations are pretty low as I doubt Buster or Harrison are available and Jefferson never filled the bill at point guard last year and Wednesday's performance didn't show any sign of improvement.

Your expectations are correct. Buster and Harrison are not in the starting lineup.

Better start for LU. Up by six at the first media time out. Tulane is far below Houston talent wise.
Lamar up 18-8 with 7:23 left in the first half. Neither team shooting the ball well. Lamar is zero from long distance and Tulane is one of eight. Lamar rebounding much better than Wednesday.

The offense is sloppy right now.

LU up 30 -21 at halftime. I'll take it after Wednesday's showing and missing two potential starters today.
Lamar leading 30-21 at the half. For the Cards ten rebounds, nine turnovers, 33% from the ield and 75% from the free throw line.
9:43 left in the game and Tulane has closed the gap to a one point lead for Lamar. Turnovers are still the number one problem for LU, with 14 to this point.

7:28 of the 2nd half and Tulane leads 45 - 42.

Correction to earlier post, turnovers is a big problem but the probably not really the number one problem. Offense is still the real number one problem. It may stem from any of the following, lack of a half court offensive set, the lack of players to execute the offense or the lack of a head coach that can produce a half court offense. We will see if as the competition level drops another notch tomorrow versus Lipscomb if the Cardinals can do any better.
I am still optimistic Jefferson will contribute this year.He had a nagging injury for most of conference play last year. But remember in the second conference game last year against Northwestern State he set a school record with 11 steals.
I hope to see Buster return for the Air Force game. Also Covid protocols have limited Lamar’s practice time greatly the past three weeks. This is a factor that will create misleading performances for many teams.

Lamar playing Lipscomb today. The Cardinals with an early lead 5 to 4 at the 14:56 mark of the first half.

Lamar needs to make a run as the Cardinals are down 63 to 48 with 7:49 left in the game.
Was away from the house so couldn't catch the game. Score wise LU has improved each game, but not sure how much of that is truly improvement or the level of the competition. Will wait and see what Lipscomb does against Tulane tomorrow. Turnovers have gone down each game, but again that may be related to competition or type of defense the opponent played. Lipscomb shot about ten percent better than LU from the field and from three point land both. Lipscomb had ten threes compared to five for LU. LU has a week to get ready for Air Force and hopefully will be at full strength for that game.

Tulane beat Lipscomb yesterday 68 to 66.

I believe Lamar would win both games with potential starters Harrison and Buster available.
