Skinny1 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Not sure if I expect us to win or not. Lamar has improved recently, but so has McNeese. Would be nice to get a road win going into the SLC Tournament. Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 If girls win at McNeese this afternoon, looks like they lock up the #4 seed for next week. Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 End of 1st quarter, Lamar Ladies 12, McNeese Cowgirls 4. Quote
geezer Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 (edited) End of the first half with Lamar up 32-17. Buster has eleven points and Muoka has two fouls. VEry clean half for Lamar. Lamar only had two turnovers for the half, both by Muoka and at least one of those was an offensive foul. Lamar shooting 43% from the field. Edited March 6, 2021 by geezer Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 (edited) SLC refs made a game of the girls game by calling a bunch of fouls in the 2nd half on the Cards. Hopefully this home cooking does not carry over to the mens game. That said SLC womens refs are somewhere between Lil Dribblers and jr high as far as competency. Edited March 6, 2021 by Skinny1 Quote
geezer Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Men's final Lamar 60 - McNeese 51. Nice sweep for the day by the basketball programs. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Lamar finishes the season on a four game win streak! Quote
geezer Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Lamar will either be the sixth or seventh seed for the conference tourney depending on the outcome of the New Orleans / Southeastern La game. A SELA win would move them above Lamar on a percentage basis even though both teams would have six wins. Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Lamar will either be the sixth or seventh seed for the conference tourney depending on the outcome of the New Orleans / Southeastern La game. A SELA win would move them above Lamar on a percentage basis even though both teams would have six wins. This is really a big game (UNO vs SELa) for Lamar. The 6th seed plays at 8pm on Tuesday and the 7th does not play until 8pm on Wednesday. Quote
baller Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 UNO men beat Lions 81-76.This helps but lack of depth will make it hard to make a deep run in the tourney with little time to rest between games. Quote

geezer Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 If I read the SLC Tourney schedule correctly Lamar men will play the winner of Tuesday's game between the 7th seed either UIW or SELA (not sure how the tie breaker works) and HBU at 8:00 PM Wednesday. It looks like the ladies are the fourth seed and won't play until Friday. I hope the layoff doesn't mess them up. Quote
baller Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Lamar the 6 seed gets a first round bye and faces the winner of Incarnate Word the 7 seed and Houston Baptist the 10 seed in Katy on Wednesday night. When they win they will play the 3 seed Sam Houston the next night.Stephen F Austin is ineligible reportedly due in part to inaccurate calculations of APR or continuing progress for many student athletes for a number of teams that dates back many years starting under previous leaders and staff. That meant some academically ineligible athletes competed not knowing they were ineligible according to reports. Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Lamar women are the #4 seed and will play their 1st game at 11am Friday versus either Central Arkansas, McNeese, or HBU. They then would play the #1 seed SFA at 1pm on Saturday. The Championship game is 1pm on Sunday. Quote
