See where the transfer portal is reaching 1300.

Jim Boheim of Syracuse said college coaches now have another recruiting season to deal with. Said Syracuse will lose some players just like everyone else. He said North Carolina has 7 players in the portal and all were HS All-Americans.

The NCAA has a problem. Guess that is at least partially where you wind up when you quit giving multiple year scholarships. No one has any loyalty other than their own playing time and sometimes even that isn't enough.

Boheim says one of the problem is many players do not want to be coached and think college basketball should be like AAU ball, where everyone is in for them selves.

I am sure that is true. You can see it almost every game by some of the stupid moves so many players try to make when a good pass would serve their team so much better.

Found a 6-3 SG from Austin Peay, Jordyn Adams with new school listed as Lamar. Kid is from Silsbee and will be either a sophmore or junior. I'm not sure on class just because I haven't looked close enough yet. According to AP stats it looks like he played about 20 minutes per game and scored about 9.5 per game. Looks like he could be an asset. Edited by geezer

For me one big question about the transfer portal system is how do things get locked. I will uses football only because I know better when actual signing day is. There is a date range where paperwork must be submitted to the NCAA on a students intention. Until that paperwork is submitted everything is really nothing more than a handshake at best. Obviously Kopp, Bennett and the others are still in class at Lamar and will not enroll wherever they go until summer school starts at the earliest. For football even if someone takes a summer class at Lamar it doesn't necessarily mean they are a Lamar student, just that they took a class there. Where they enroll at for the Fall Semester as a full time student is the definition of where they are attending. The national letter of intent usually signed in February is binding on the school and player for that first year. Exactly what happens in future years is much muddier to me. So when it comes to transfers when is it a binding agreement? Do any of you know. Example Verbal Committs.com says Harrison intends to go to La Tech next year but when and what makes that binding? Ultimately sometime late this summer Brooks will probably make an announcement of the make up of next years team. For those of us out here in speculation land do we really have any idea of what all is going on. Is this Adams kid coming, is Harrison gone for sure? I think the only thing we know is Lamar basketball will look different when practice starts in October than it did when the final whistle blew in March.

I think alot of it has to do with admissions and financial aid paperwork, but the end of the portal is May 1st.

As I stated earlier, this LU team won't look as different as everyone thinks. Stay tuned.

The assistant coach at La Tech that recruited Harrison out of high school and possible reason he went there, has left for another job. My understanding is Kasen has not signed anything official.

On another note, Junior Lofton out of Port Arthur, is a freshman at La Tech and I heard he is upset that the assistant at La Tech has left and is good friends with Harrison. If he goes into the transfer Portal he could be available. Just wishful thinking.

Kasen did not sign a NLI but a financial agreement with La Tech or they would not have been able to announce his signing as they did on April 5.

Looks like a decent prospect and maybe even a better fit than Muoka was. I like juco kids, they are working their way up and at this point not complaining about what they didn't get to do.

Kasen Harrison is reopening his recruitment, Jaylen Adams retweeted it with a wink face emoji (hope you old folks can speak snowflake!). Sounds good for Lamar on the surface
