First game of 4 game series starts at 3pm today. Saw ACU play UT-Austin a few weeks ago on the LHN and they looked like a solid baseball team. I think we have our hands full this weekend.

Lamar loses on a 2 out, bases loaded single 3-2. Shucks!!!

Relief pitching still a wild ride for Lamar. Lost another one. Walk off single in the bottom of the ninth.

Dang we just cant win a opening day game.

When your fighting for the last conference tourney bid, you can't afford these kind of losses. Nicholls scored 8 runs in the top of the 10th to defeat conference lead SELA to gain a two more point lead on Lamar. Lamar is four points back of Nicholls for eighth place.

My Livestats feed isn't updating yet. D1 Baseball site shows ACU up 1-0 in the bottom of the second of game two.

Bottom of the third with ACU up 5-0

D1 shows ACU up 8-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Game two doesn't look good for Lamar. Also shows Nicholl leading in their game two against SELA

Lamar gets three runs in the the top of the sixth and chase the starting pitcher but unlike Lamar (relievers most of the time) the ACU reliever gets the first batter he faces out to end the inning. ACU up 8-3 Edited May 8, 2021 by geezer

Lamar got a home run from Quirion in the 7th to make it ACU 8-4 but as this is the first game of a double header 7 innings is all you get so Lamar drops the first two of a series again.

A little good news. After being down early SELA comes back to defeat Nicholls in the second game of their series so Lamar is still four points behind Nicholls for the last tourney slot.

Through five innings in game three Cards are up 3-2.

Cards get two runs in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 5-2.

ACU comes back in the bottom of the sixth with a two our rally on a solo home run, a single and two run home run to tie the game at 5.

Neither team scores in the 7th. Bravo has pitched a solid game to this point. His pitch count is up to 94.

Lamar fails to score in the top of the 8th. Dallas comes in to pitch for Bravo to start the bottom of the 8th.

What can you say but Lamar relief pitching stinks. Dallas gets the first batter out but the next three get on base followed by a ground rule double to score two. Mize comes in for Dallas and gives up a three run homer before getting the last two outs of the inning. At the end of eight ACU leads 10-5.

Game four, Lamar relief pitching drops another one. Michael leaves after five innings with the score tied at three. Lamar winds up loosing 5-7. With a Nicholls win today it doesn't look promising for Lamar to get to the tourney.
