Lamar Baseball hosts UNO for Senior Weekend

UNO takes advantage of the pitching change to get one run back in the fourth as Mize gets the first batter faced out before giving up a walk and a single to score the UNO run. Mize gets the third out before anymore damage is done.Lamar comes back in the bottom of the fourth with three runs to extend the lead to 5-1. Edited May 16, 2021 by geezer

Lamar really needs this win.

Mize lasts an inning and a third. Leaves with two outs and runners on first and second. Buckendorff comes in. Gives up a single to the first batter faced which score a run. At the middle of the fifth the Lead is 5-2 Cards on top. Cards go down in order in the bottom of the fifth. Edited May 16, 2021 by geezer

Lamar makes another pitching change to start the sixth inning with Content starting the inning for the Cards. Content last 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs and leaving a runner on first. Dallas comes in to replace Content. Dallas closes out the sixth inning with no more damage. Middle of the sixth and Lamar now leads by one run 5-4. Lamar fails to score in the bottom of the sixth. Lamar gets an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to make it 6-4 Cards.

UNO goes down in order in the top of the ninth and the Cards win taking three of four games over the weekend. Cardinals close out the regular season at UIW beginning Thursday evening.

McNeese hangs on to complete the sweep of Nicholls which may have Lamar one point ahead of Nicholls at this point but with other action that took place this weekend Lamar is still on the outside looking in at a tourney birth. Lamar probably needs to sweep UIW next weekend to get in.
