Lamar Baseball At UIW

Lamar needs to take three of four for a shot at the tourney. Games are rescheduled with the double header moved up to tomorrow. Game 1 will begin at 2:00 PM

Lamar sends eight batters to the plate in the top of the first, resulting in 2 runs and three left on base. Lamar leads 2-0 going to the bottom of the first.

UIW scoreless through two innings. Lamar gets another run in the top of the third on a lead off home run from Quirion. UIW gets a base runner in the third on a one out walk but fails to score. At the end of three innings, Lamar leads 3-0. Edited May 20, 2021 by geezer

Lamar gets four runs in the top of the fourth on three hits and a UIW error, including Quirions 2nd homer of the game to extend the lead to 7-0. UIW goes down in order in the bottom of the fourth.

No scoring in the fifth inning, however UIW does get their first hit of the game. Michael has thrown 71 pitches through five innings and as the first game of a double header Michael is potentially in position for another complete game.

No scoring in the sixth inning. Lamar still leads 7-0.

Michael completes 2nd straight complete game shutout performance giving up only two hits in seven innings. Lamar wins 7-0.

Game two starting in about an hour.

Game two under way. After one inning Lamar is up 5-2. Lamar scored five in the top of the first on four hits including a three run home run by Snell. UIW got two runs back in the bottom of the first on a throwing error by Bravo on what should have been the third out.

2nd inning, Lamar fails to score. UIW gets one run on two walks and a single to make the score 5-3 Lamar. Bravo is struggling a little.

Game three UIW up 5-2 at the end of five. UIW got one run in the first, three runs in the third and one run in the fourth. Lamar got one in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Lamar gets a run in the top of the sixth on Cole Girouard home run, but gives it back in the bottom of the sixth. After six UIW up 6-3.

Scoreless seventh inning, thanks to a great throw from George to the plate to end the UIW half of the inning.

Followed by a scoreless eighth inning. Lamar gets a solo home run from Kemp in the top of the ninth but fail to tie up the game. Final score in game three UIW 6 - Lamar 4.

Other action affecting Lamar's chance for post season, McNeese defeats UCA in game one of the double header. That series tied at one game each. Sam and Nicholls starting the first game of their series about 4:00 PM. Sam game one started late but Sam won it. McNeese defeats UCA in the 2nd game also. Sam defeated Nicholls in the 2nd game yesterday evening, so Nicholls is out. UCA and UIW both have 17-22 conference records so a loss by either of them today would put Lamar with 16 wins and four games not played in the tourney. If Lamar wins they should be the seventh seed and a Lamar and UCA loss would make Lamar the eighth seed. Points Lamar with 16 wins and four not played should be 52 points. UCA with 17 wins and no games missed would sit at 51 points.

After a scoreless first inning Lamar gets three runs in the top of the 2nd on a two out three run home run by LeJeune. It was his first homer of the season.

Lamar gives one run back in the bottom of the 2nd. At the end of two Lamar leads 3-1.

Lamar gets three runs in the top of the third and hold UIW scoreless in bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 6-1.

Lamar picks up two more runs in the fourth on a two run home run by Kemp, and holds UIW scoreless again to extend the lead to 8-1. Dallas started the game for Lamar and has thrown 49 pitches through four innings.
