Lafayette does have a public transport system and various cabs that you can take. I personally have never used and cabs our the Lafayette public transport system but here are some links that should help you out:

Let me know if you have any more question. We can't wait for LU to come to Cajun Field! It'll be a good one!

Thanks for the heads up. Lubbock had none when I went there for a Lamar basketball game, so that's good to hear. By the way, I think we'll have at least a thousand Lamar fans there. We traveled pretty well to Huntsville and San Marcos this year, so I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Its a better schedule than I was expecting. I'm already planning on the trip to ULL...it should be fun. I agree, the McNeese game was a lot closer than the score would suggest but they did beat a qb with a broken leg so we will let them savor in their win until we meet again!

Round-trip from DFW to LAF is only $320. It's tempting.

It's only a 6 hour drive. Why not just get a rental car for the day, drive over the night before, stay that night and the night after the game and drive back. Seems like it would be MUCH cheaper than a $320 with hotel stays (or friends)

My car is paid off, and to be quite frank, I'm trying to get every mile I can out of it. $320 isn't bad. I flew two years ago to watch Lamar's basketball at Texas Tech. My car has 150k miles on it, and I'm expecting to get to run it to the ground to around 200k or 250k (it's an '04 Acura, so that's not exorbitant).

Reread what I said... get a rental car. Most of the companies allow you to drive to Texas/Oklahoma/Arkansas/Louisiana with unlimited mileage.

spend a few bucks more or drive for 12 hours?...

I would imagine it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper to drive there.

Everything else is the same (hotel accommodations, food, etc).

A rental car in DFW is about 20-30 per day, plus gas, vs 300 for a plane ticket and then having to rely on other's for transportation.

I'd much rather drive. You can stop at places along the way and get a good view of east Texas. Have a little fun in Shreveport maybe?
