Guest CardAmbassador
I don't want to put a recruit up there if they're not considering Lamar. The WOS guy previously had an offer listed from McNeese and LU once he got his other offers he immediately took both FCS offers down and moved LU and McNeese to "No Interest." I think it's safe to say he doesn't want to play FCS ball, and it look like he will have plenty of FBS offers before it is all said and done. I've actually been following the 2013 page for the past several months.

Follow this link: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/recruit-search Then change the year to 2013 and the school to Lamar. The only two players listed are the two players that have already been mentioned.
Guest NorthoftheBorder
Per a previous post I made, LU should still coninue to recruit the kid from WOS because he is local and it doesn't take great effort to do so, especially if he is a 4 or 5 star recruit and they think he can play. He may change his mind later and LU should be there if he does.

Neither what I or you say will influence who the coaches recruit. I'm going to say I disagree, don't recruit someone if they're clearly not interested. I don't care where he is from, we need to go after people who will play here.
Mike
I've seen enough. Recruiting is part of the process and every major university recruits high school juniors mostly beginning after National Signing Day. For example, The University of Texas just hosted "junior days" last weekend in Austin and it was covered hard by all their major fan sites. Texas A&M host a junior day this weekend and it'll be covered by all their fan sites. Lamar host juniors at spring practices this year and we will cover it here along with spring ball, baseball, basketball and everything else Lamar related. The most hit topics on this forum is the recruiting news so it will continue. If you don't like a particular topic then stay off the thread and start a different one, because if I see more personal attacks timeouts will be given. Now back to the subject at hand. lu cards
you recruit a local kid even if you know he's not coming to lamar because things change.he may go off to school and realize its not for him or theres a coaching change.when he looks to transfer lamar will be there waiting with arms wide open.if you dont show him any interest in high school he probably wont transfer back home. Guest NorthoftheBorder
Once again, this is my non-expert opinion and what I say on here has no influence whatsoever, but looking at the roster, I think the #1 need for the next recruiting class is beefy defensive lineman who can play. I think it is our weakest area on the team.

That will be a huge need, because if I'm not mistaken we will lose our two largest DL's to graduation, we're already very thin in that position. Guest bigred360
I'm from Orange and know a lot of people from WO-S. I've heard Travon Blanchard never had any real intesest in signing with Lamar and is now committed to Baylor. There is another kid at WO-S that Lamar should look at and that is Quinton Tezeno. He isn't big, maybe 5'9, 170 lbs DB. However, he is a big playmaker and has about 4.4 speed in the forty. I seen him return a kickoff and a punt in the same quarter for TD's in a football game last year. His father Quinton, Sr was on the Mustang's 4A back to back state championship teams 1980's. Then he started in college career at UH but transferred and finished his college career at New Mexico State. Believe me, the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree. Maybe he could be picked up as P/K returner? I'm just thinking back to last year and how much of a liability our undersized DB's were in the run game. The other team would just run a sweep left of sweep right and our DB's couldn't get off the block to make a tackle because of their size. Guest CardAmbassador
Heard it through the grape vine that we had a 6'4" JUCO Tight End from San Diego in last weekend, he seemed to enjoy himself. Wish I had more but that is all.
Guest CardAmbassador
I found who we were looking at, buddy texted me the info: http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=5825127 Cory Soto, he's actually 6'8". He was here this weekend so we will put him up on the recruiting board as a target, that would literally be a huge pick-up LOL!
