Lamar has an offer out to Chris Mayer, a 6'7 345 OT from Fort Scott CC.

Chris Mayer #68, Offensive Tackle at Fort Scott JuCo picked up offers from FCS Program Lamar. In 2012 Mayer earned Honorable Mention All-Jayhawk Conference. Mayer has offers from FAMU, Lamar and Texas Southern for the 2013 Recruiting Class.

As far as Gerron Anthony is concerned, hopefully he's healthy enough to contribute:

It is also believed that offensive lineman Gerron Anthony out of Tyler (John Tyler), Texas is going to go on medical scholarship, which does not count against the scholarship totals with the NCAA.

Anthony, who had limited participation in the spring and did not finish the spring, was involved in a auto accident going home to Tyler last fall on a weekend where the team was playing a road game and he was not on the travel squad. The redshirt sophomore had injuries that have compromised his ability to contribute.

I don't believe we would have signed him if he was not healthy enough to play football.

Mayer has committed to LU.

Coach my deal is we have done this before. Those players did not work out after LU gave them a second chance. Anthony not only has a drug arrest, but wasn't even on the team because of injury. Did the drug arrest nullify his medical scholarship? Maybe this forced him to transfer and good ol LU is going to help him out. If he was too injured to be on the team, then why would we give him a scholarship? Are our Dr's better than Ok St. Dr's? Are we going to rebuild him and put him back on the field...I just don't understand this signing.
