There's no way in hell this team should be that bad - he had pieces to work with. Can we just admit that this hire was a colossal mistake? Born just made the popular hire, and I was hopeful it would work out but it hasn't. That COVID b******t won't cut it either.

I will not say that Brooks was a great hire, but the reality is he did not have the pieces to have a good team. Buster is a streak shooter and he has missed at least one third of the games. Roberts' strength is dribble drive and he is better at it than anyone that returned from the previous season. Adams has missed nearly half of the season with injuries or illness. Harrison has missed close to one third of the season and despite what he did last year is not playing close to that level this year. Harrison also turns the ball over too much and for his game to work he needs inside players that can rebound and score. Jefferson has missed several games also and he has the exact same problems that Harrison has. Not a good enough outside shot to force the other team to respect him, so they wait for the dribble-drive and whatever wild shot attempt he throws up. I have a lot of respect for Smith, he is forced to play out position because no one on the team that is taller than he is, is a scoring or rebounding threat. This also puts him in a bad spot defensively as when one is constantly defending players in the paint that are typically taller and stronger, one usually has to foul to stop the offensive player and how often you get caught affects how much playing time you can get. McClure, in some ways similar to Smith isn't big enough to consistently play inside and hasn't demonstrated a consistent scoring threat from the outside either. Of the three "big men" Lamar has Catt is the best offensively in the paint but has a lot to learn about defense. His defensive lack of skills gets him in foul trouble in most games. He may become a decent post player but definitely is a project. Reyes is much like Catt when it comes to defense and doesn't have even as good of offensive skills as Catt. Carpenter is a local favorite but as a walk-on shouldn't be getting anywhere near the playing time he has if you had the quality of "big men" needed to compete at the D-1 level in any decent conference. Ball was supposed to be a help but has not played a single game. Nickerson has missed over half the year. Do I need to say any more about the pieces Brooks got for this first year? Also, most of the year Lamar hasn't had enough players available to even practice five on five, no matter what their positions were supposed to be.

utrgv beat us with 7. Enuf with excuses. Dribble drive and throw up a prayer layup, while trying to draw a foul, is mickey mouse, aau, high school crapola

Writing was on the wall after we squeaked out a win vs naia power, our lady of the lake with a full roster. They are 2-8 in their conference.

Carpenter was a 2 star recruit out of high school. Reyes is a spastic. WE DO NOT RUN PLAYS TO THE POST SO THERE IS NO TELLING WHETHER OR NOT CATT OR CARPENTER CAN SCORE WITH ANY CONSISTENCY.

Also Catt and Carpenter need to hit the weights hard and go to some type of big man camp all summer. It is pretty clear we have no coach working with them on their post game. Of course, their main roll in this idiotic offense is to set screens 20 feet from the basket
