geezer
Since I no longer live in the Beaumont area, what can you tell me about her possible skill set, size etc.
lamarfan360
She is a 5-6 PG/SG but I do not have any stats on her. Sorry.
geezer
I am sure she is a great person, but she has to have some exceptional skills at that height for me to be excited about her making a real difference at Lamar. Yes, Lamar has had some very good 5' 6" players over the years but the ability to maintain a high shooting percentage against taller players is a problem and I think many of the WAC opponents have taller guards. I dont know if she is good or not but height is overrated. If youre good youre good.
geezer
I will agree that if your good your good, but the difference is if your good and their good plus three to four inches or more taller than you are, most of the time you will need to be great and won't get your shot off the same way you do if you're playing someone closer to your height. Watching this game, littlest guy on the floor, Trammel, looks like the best player on the court to me.
PeckEm
2 on 1 break, McClure wide open, Smith ignores him and tries to be mr hero as defender commits to him. Of course, he does not score. One bright spot, Brooks called timeout to chew his ass out.

From the chatter I've seen on the WAC message board he has been mentioned as among the best point guards in the conference. Yes, there are a lot of good smaller players, but Lamar seems to have more than one or two at a time. Lamar also can't seem to find quality big players on the Men's side. For the last time, BROOKS is not using the big men he has. I firmly believe Catt could have scored 20 today had Brooks let him post up. Catt had 3 or 4 go in and out and those were jumpers facing up to the basket. The 2 or 3 times he did post up he did it with ease; he missed a Lil jump hook on one, and kicked the ball back out to Roberts for an open 3 that he actually made on the other . McClure cant create his own shot but he has shown signs that he can shoot. Feed the damn ball into Catt or Carpenter and have McClure and Ledet spotted up on 3 point line. If their man collapses to help in the post l, kick it out. If not, shoot the damn ball. And keep doing it and lets see what happens. What do we have to lose? What we are doing now certainly isnt working. Edited February 13, 2022 by PeckEm

I don't think you're going to change Roberts, Jefferson or Harrison from holding the ball and forcing a dribble drive until you can pull them out of the game for not feeding the ball into the post. In today's game with only seven players available benching someone for not following the game plan, if it was to feed the post and have them either show what they have for offensive skills or kick the ball back out really wasn't an option. Bench Roberts and replace him with Jefferson who does the same thing.
