geezer Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 (edited) Three game weekend series at SFA to open the WAC regular season. Due to weather Friday evening Cards playing a double header today and one game on Sunday. After one inning Lamar is up 1-0. Edited March 12, 2022 by geezer Quote
geezer Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 SFA gets one run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at one a piece. Good pitchers dual so far. Quote
geezer Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 Lamar comes back to get a second run in the top of the sixth to retake the lead 2-1. Lamar relief pitchers have done ok so far, as Odom pitched one and a third innings allowing two batters on in the bottom of the seventh and yielding to Davis with two runners on. Davis comes in and get two strikes outs to end the inning. Quote
geezer Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 Game two has started and Cards are up 5-0 in the top of the second and have chased the SFA starting pitcher. Quote
geezer Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 Cards up 9-0 after two innings. Coming to bat in the third. Quote
geezer Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 After six innings the Cards are up 14-3. The offense has allowed the Cards to stay out of the bullpen to this point. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2022 Author Posted March 13, 2022 Game three Sunday at 1 PM. A sweep would be a great way to start conference play. Quote

geezer Posted March 14, 2022 Author Posted March 14, 2022 Not sure anyone knows how strong any of the conference schools really are at this point, but still a great way to open conference play. You can never get a gain back one from the loss column in your record. Looking at the WAC message board, Sacramento St apparently is a baseball only member who swept a Top 25 nationally ranked team a couple of weeks ago then got swept last weekend by HBU who the Cards lost to last week. Sac St went 1-2 in their opening series, for what it's worth. Quote
PeckEm Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Final 6-3 as the Cardinals sweep the series. Nothing sweeter than beating the crap out of SFA (well, put Sam and McNeese in there as well). It's early but very nice start! Maybe, finally, is it possible....we will have a real team to root for? Quote
