Middle of the 7th with the score still 2-1 in favor of Lamar. Douthit started for Lamar and through seven innings has 108 pitches. Would be nice to get a couple of insurance runs.

Kemp homers to extend Lamar's lead to six in the bottom of the eighth and Lamar holds Sam scoreless in the ninth to take the second game of the series 8-2. Great start for the Cards. Here's hoping for a second straight sweep.

Relief pitching in the top of the eighth, has a rough outing so far. Leadoff hitter reaches base on an error, followed by a double to score one and then multiple more hits before the ninth batter of the inning becomes the first out. Sam gets a total of seven runs in the top of the eighth to reclaim the lead 9-3. Will take a big comeback for the Cards to win this one. Edited by geezer

Lamar scores no runs in the eighth or nineth as Sam wins the last game of the series. Cards fall to 5-1 in conference play but are still sitting atop the southwest division. Cards travel to Corpus Christi for a mid-week game before going on to UTRGV for the next conference series next weekend.
