Cardinals open the second half of division play at home against SFA, whom the Cards swept the first time around, tonight at Vincent Beck with a 6 PM start time. Lamar is sitting in second place in the division, one game back of Sam Houston and two games ahead of the third-place teams.

Through four innings SFA is up 1-0. Cards only have two hits so far. SFA has three hits, the difference SFA's all came in a row.

Cards get two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead on two walks and two hits.

Game stayed at 2-1 until the bottom of the eighth when the Cards got three runs to extend the lead to 5-1 going to the top of the ninth.

Good thing the Cards got the three in the bottom of the eighth as Dallas gave up three runs in the top of the ninth, with SFA's third out with a runner trying to score. Cards hang on for a 5-4 win in game one of the series. Game two tomorrow at 2 PM.

Sam played a double header versus Tarleton on Friday and a single game today. Sam got a sweep so a Sunday win for the Cards is much needed.

Sunday, the Cards get the win 4-3. SFA scored first in the top of the third, before Lamar two runs in the bottom of the third for a 2-1 lead. Everything was fairly quiet until the eighth. Mize gave up a leadoff hit and was replaced by Dallas. Dallas got the three outs for the inning but not before allowing the inherited runner to score and give up another run of his own for SFA to regain the lead 3-2. Cardinals' bats do the job in the bottom of the eighth to retake the lead 4-3 and Dallas pitches a scoreless ninth for the win. With the two wins Lamar sits two games back of Sam Houston whom they play next weekend. Cards will need a sweep next weekend to retake first place over the Bearcats.
