geezer Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Cards get a win in their final mid-week game before finishing the conference season at ACU and at home versus Tarleton over the next two weekend. To have a chance at winning the division Lamar will probably need a sweep in both series. Right now Lamar is three games back of Sam and tied with UTRGV. Sam is at RGV this weekend and then finishes up against ACU. Quote
PeckEm Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Cards get a win in their final mid-week game before finishing the conference season at ACU and at home versus Tarleton over the next two weekend. To have a chance at winning the division Lamar will probably need a sweep in both series. Right now Lamar is three games back of Sam and tied with UTRGV. Sam is at RGV this weekend and then finishes up against ACU. I think we have a few too many issues to be able to pull it off. Too many errors, no #3 starting pitcher, and inconsistent hitting. Anyway, has been a very good season. Good to see that we can put something respectable on the field (diamond, court, etc) Quote
geezer Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 Game got a late start due to a weather delay, at 9:45 they are in the top of the third and Lamar has a 5-0 lead, scoring one in the first and four in the second. Checked and RGV defeated Sam in the first game of that series. Lamar needs a win to keep pace. Quote
geezer Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 Lamar scored three more runs in the third despite a base running mistake that cost them an out. Cards held ACU scoreless again in the third for an 8-0 lead after three innings. Quote
geezer Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 I hate when Lamar pitchers walk batters. Lamar gave up two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a hit, followed by two walks, a fly out and a fielder's choice. Quote
geezer Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 Douthit is forced out of the game after getting one out and giving up three singles spaced around the out. Cole came in to pitch for Douthit and got a fielder's choice out that allowed a run to score, then gave up another of those hated walks followed by another single to score two more runs before getting the third out. After five innings the Cards are up by a score of 8-5. Lamar bats have been silent for the last two innings. Quote
geezer Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 Cards bats come alive in the top of the sixth with Lamar scoring five runs to get back all the runs given up in the previous two innings to ACU. Score going to the bottom of the sixth is now 13-5 Lamar. Quote
geezer Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 Cards score four in the ninth to extend the lead to 17-6. Sure, hope the bats stay awake tomorrow. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Game two pushed back to an evening start and then delayed about fifty minutes for lightning. No score through two innings. Lamar gets a run in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead. Wheaton pitching good so far. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Wheaton has a rough fourth inning giving up two runs on a leadoff home run, a single, two walks and another infield hit. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Cards come back in the fifth scoring two runs to retake the lead at 3-2. Hold ACU in the bottom of the fifth. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Cards get three more runs in the top of the sixth and again holds ACU scoreless in the bottom of the inning extending the lead to 6-2. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Both teams score two in the seventh. After seven innings the score is 8-4 in favor of the Cards. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 Would be nice if LU could add a few more runs! Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 After a scoreless eighth, Lamar gets a run in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to five runs, 9-4. Dallas got the last two outs in the eighth and continues into the ninth. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 ACU comes back with a run in the bottom of the ninth, but the Cards get the win 9-5. The win guarantees the Card no worse than a even split with ACU for the year. Also this evening good news for the Cards as Sam defeated RGV to give the Cards a one game advantage for second place in the division but the Cards are still two games back of Sam for the division title. Cards need to get the sweep tomorrow. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Game three starts on time and the Cards score a run in the top of the first. Buckendorf on the mound to start the day. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Cards got a second run in the second inning and two more in the third to take of 4-0 lead to the bottom of the third. Buckendorf got into a jam and gave up two runs before Ellis came in to get the last out of the inning. After three the score is 4-2 in favor of Lamar. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Lamar gets a run in the fifth and gives up a run in the bottom of the inning to make the score 5-3 heading into the sixth. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 ACU gets a run in the bottom of the sixth to pull within one. Score now 5-4 Lamar. Lamar currently have used three pitchers so far. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Cards get a run in the top of the eighth to extend the lead back to two runs while holding ACU scoreless. Lamar up 6-4 going into the ninth. Dallas came in to get close the eighth for the Cards. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 Lamar gets another insurance run in the ninth to extend the lead to three runs. 7-4. Quote
geezer Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 (edited) Dallas gets the save and the Cards get the sweep. Cards will host Tarleton next weekend to end the regular season. Cards will start next weekend two games behind Sam and two games ahead of RGV solidly in second in the division. Edited May 15, 2022 by geezer Quote
PeckEm Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Way to go Cardinals! Great series for the Cards! Things got a little chippy...they beaned Kemp 3 times over the last 2 games. He wasn't pleased about it. Quote
