Beaumont, TX (Sports Network) - Standout Lamar University offensive tackle Anthony Oden has left the football program following a recent suspension from the team.

I agree, the guy is a waste of talent. Sad to see when someone has that type of ability and then they waste it.

Maybe he was just living in his brother's shadow, and he never amounted to what his brother was, so he let it spiral out of hand. This kid had some real potential.

 

Anyone know if he's staying at Lamar and finishing his degree? I wouldn't be surprised either way.

I've seen it posted on here that he never showed back up for spring classes, not sure if that is true.

Not sure how someone can pass up the opportunity to make millions, but maybe because his brother has millions he believes he doesn't need to. But I think Woodard is now a lot more selective on transfers. Have there been any since Oden?

No, but transfers don't usually come until the fall right? I mean Marcus Malbrough, Oden and many of our transfers were in the fall. JJ was one of the few that came in the spring. Woodard said we have 2.5 scholarships available for next year so we will either see a few transfers or some guys getting scholarship money that are walk ons.

You may be right, but I have not heard of any potential transfers lately. They have to want to come to LU in order for us to be selective.
