geezer Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) Through the first two innings the first game is a pitchers dual. Penn got one hit but Caple got two strikeouts so there was no damage. Edited March 4, 2023 by geezer Quote
geezer Posted March 4, 2023 Author Posted March 4, 2023 I will assume for some reason Caple was on a pitch limit of some kind, only pitching two innings with that kind of start. Odom came in to start the third. Quote
geezer Posted March 4, 2023 Author Posted March 4, 2023 Odom pitched two clean innings, but in the top of the fifth the first three batters all reached base and Odom was pulled for Morse. Morse allowed two of Odoms runs to score plus one of his own before getting out of the inning with Lamar trailing 4-0 . Quote
lamarfan360 Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 It is not looking good for our tenth win right now. Quote
geezer Posted March 4, 2023 Author Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) Lamar is down 6-1 going into the bottom of the ninth. I suppose Davis is focused on using the pre-conference portion of the season to make sure he has the pitching staff ready for conference and knowing what his pitching staff can do is more important than a winning streak but I sure would have given by best chance to set the record first. Lamar left the bases loaded in the ninth but fail to get any additional runs. Streaks over, Penn wins 6-1. Game two tomorrow at 2 PM. Edited March 4, 2023 by geezer Quote
geezer Posted March 4, 2023 Author Posted March 4, 2023 Lamar drops game two 7-6. Lamar took the early lead scoring two in the bottom of the first, but gave up three in the third and three more in the fifth, before getting three of their own in the bottom of the fifth to close the gap to one until tieing the game in the bottom of the ninth. Penn got a solo home run in the tenth and kept the Cards from scoring in the bottom of the tenth for the win. Game three is at 1 PM Sunday as Lamar tries to avoid getting swept. Quote
geezer Posted March 5, 2023 Author Posted March 5, 2023 Lamar comes back to win game three versus Penn. Cards will travel to LSU on Wednesday before returning next weekend for another three game series. Quote
