geezer Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 The Cards enter the final week in seventh place with a three-game lead over this weekend's opponent HCU. The good news is the only way Lamar doesn't make the post-season is by getting swept by HCU. The bad news is that Lamar has been so inconsistent this year and the make-up of the conference tournament places a lot of doubt for Lamar doing much in the tourney. Lamar does have one non-conference game left against former WAC member UTRGV on Tuesday. Quote
geezer Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 Cards get the win against UTRGV in the mid-week contest. With a sweep of HCU Lamar could move up to as high as fifth, but anything else will leave them as the seventh and last seed for the conference tournament. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Hopefully LU can sweep the series with Houston Christian. Quote
geezer Posted May 20, 2023 Author Posted May 20, 2023 (edited) Cards win game two 10-3 to move to 12-11 for their conference record. With a little craziness tomorrow their could be five teams tied with 13-11 records. Nicholls is on top at worse a 14-10 record and McNeese is currently the seventh team with a 12-12 record. lamarfan360 Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Lamar wins 9-5 today to sweep the series with HCU. The Cardinals finish the regular season 32-21 and on a four game winning streak headed into the SLC Tournament. Quote
geezer Posted May 20, 2023 Author Posted May 20, 2023 The way the final weekend played out Lamar jumped all the way from seventh and needing one win to guarantee a spot in the tournament to a tie for third place in the regular season and the third seed for the tournament. A&M Corpus, McNeese, Northwestern St and UNO. Cards will play UNO Wednesday in the first round at approximately 2:30. Quote
