Crawfish Bowl Thoughts and Interviews

Hopefully the new system comes together quickly. I would guess it may take a few years to really kick in though. Patience is key.

I agree with you. There's going to be a lot of young running backs and receivers on the team next year along with three QBs with very little D1 experience. Hopefully Bill Bradley can get the team playing good defense or it could be a long year.

I think the dynamics could dramatically change if a couple of these WR's step up or the staff lures in a polished transfer. The OL/RB/TE will be ready and I think they'll be dramatically improved at QB by the start of the season. If they get any help at WR they'll be OK.

This article is encouraging, I was really disappointed with the results of the game but I wasn't there. It seems that the defense really will be better from all accounts, I'm happy to hear that there was some good hitting out there yesterday. Fred even seemed to agree that the defense was better which is good.

The most encouraging thing was that Woodard seemed to suggest there were no delay of game penalties although we installed a completely new offense. If there is one area where I hope we can improve it will be in the organizational aspect of things.

I was also worried that the Oline was a huge problem but no one has mentioned it so it must have at least been adequate.

As far as receivers go we do have 2 solid HS receivers coming in to join this group, I know they will have alot to learn, but that will only increase the competition, and like Mike said there is hope that we can snag an experienced transfer.

One question, were the punts live? If so how did the special teams coverage look?

Kickoffs were live but not punts. Kickoffs were live and the coverage was good for the couple kickoffs they had.

Another encouraging thing was I don't remember any false starts which was a problem in some of the earlier practices.

The OL I think will be fine they lost Oden but the guys coming back will improve under Coach McKnight.

Sam Houston had a quarterback this year that started last year as a true freshmen, straight out of high school, and then played well again this year and look what they did. A good/great quarterback just needs a chance, and depending on how good his o-line is and how good his receivers are could win lots of games. Just look what JJ and Marcus did for Andre Bevil. And that was without a strong o-line.
