Why is Lamar still in the Texas State University system? Our university doesn't have anything in common without so called sister schools. None of them have engineering programs. And the system has kept it's promise to have a University system of equals, especially letting SWT change its name. If we're going to be mistreated and over looked, I'd rather do it in the UT or A&M system. A&M just took over UH Victoria. TSU is a terrible university system. We need to get out.

SFA just joined the A&M system too. I don't think LU is going anywhere.

I thought SFA joined the UT system. I know Lamar ain't leaving but one can dream. We are being ignored in the low class TSU system.

You're right.  They did join the UT system.

Do you remember when Lamar was it's own university system?  It wasn't good then either.

I do. They robbed the school system dry. They almost closed it down. Happened while I was in HS. We don't need to be our own system. But I don't think we're in the right system for us at this time.

I think the Texas State system is fine.
They shouldn't have let SWTSU change their name (the "confusion with Southwestern" thing was a crappy excuse) was, while understandable, an attempt to be seen as the flagship of the system.
