Mike
I posted yesterday about a defensive lineman from a BCS school that may have interest in transferring to Lamar, well his name is Joseph Okafor. Joseph is a former rivals 3-star defensive end from Houston Bellaire that signed with Oklahoma State out of high school. I was hesitant to release his name yesterday but after hearing rumors tonight that he has already been to visit the campus I feel it's ok to put it out there. His Oklahoma State profile says the Cowboys planned on moving him to OL this season and being 6-6 296 lbs he has the frame to do so. His rivals profile showed him at 230 lbs out of high school so he's put on some weight. If he still has close to his listed 4.8 speed a switch to OL may be what's in his best interest. What position would he'd play at Lamar? I have no idea but he'd have 3 years of eligibility remaining to make an impact. I'll link his rivals profile, Oklahoma State profile and a rivals video package. coachacola
He must be the brother of NBA player Emeka Okafor who is from Houston and went to Bellaire HS. I haven't found any articles saying he wants to transfer from OSU but he must have already told his coaches at OSU. Wonder what his motivation is for transferring? LUSportsFan
Wonder if he could be a two sport player. He played basketball (power forward) and football in high school. The linked article indicated that he went to Bellaire High School to play basketball. Reading the article, it sounds like he decided to concentrate on football. At 296, he could really fill up the passing lanes. ;) http://louisianastate.scout.com/2/810454.html
Guest CardAmbassador
His name is very familiar to me but I can't figure out why. It would be great to get somebody that big at DE. I have a feeling he would actually be a DT here with that size though.
LUSportsFan
Sounds familiar to me also. There was an Alex Okafor from Pflugerville that played for the Horns. He was an All-American Defensive End as a junior in 2011. http://dallas.sbnation.com/texas-longhorns/2011/12/14/2636204/ncaa-all-america-alex-okafor-emmanuel-acho

coachacola
I See a lot of colleges recuriting that brown kid a ozen but i don't see lamar name on list I bet he's already quietly told Lamar that he's not interested. Every big name BCS school is trying to land him, Lamar doesn't stand a chance. And from what I've heard he's very smart and could probably attend almost any school even if he wasn't a great athlete.
