Mike Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/08/college-football-rankings-sagarin-ratings-walk-of-shame/1#.UD-D45Yk1Co be interesting to see how this plays out... Pretty bad list. No way ULL is worst FBS. They're coming off a 9-4 bowl winnin season and return a bunch on offense. Not to mention two other former conference mates make it but come away with wins yesterday. Quote
coachacola Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Actually it lists ULL as the 25th worst and UTSA as the worst. Texas State is listed as the 3rd worst but they just beat UH on the road. I guess that makes UH one of the worst teams in the county. Quote
JJWooten Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 UTSA needed a last second FG to beat South Alabama who is #8. Those two programs are a long way from being good. I agree, ULL is not the 25th worst team, I'd put them in the middle of the road. For what it's worth, UNLV held OU for a good chunk of their game, but Memphis (#5), Middle Tennessee (#11), and Idaho (#19) all had losses to FCS teams this week. UH lost a lot this year with Keenum gone and their head coach out. It's a major rebuilding year, and I think a lot of fans are going to disappear this season Quote
Dream Weaver Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 sagarin ratings mean nothing this time of the year Quote

Guest bossman73 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 They better update the list!! some teams on that list will be in a bowl game. Quote
BigRed98 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I know there are conflicting reports out there, but isn't UL-L considered in the running for the SBC Championship? Quote
Guest Crawfish Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 The predicted finishes are mixed, but UL is one of the top 3 along with ASU and FIU. Western Kentucky may also be in the mix. The SBC could be very good this year and has a chance to place 4 teams in a bowl because of the number of teamms that cannot compete for a bowl this season (example Penn State) Quote
LUSportsFan Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I like the Sagarin ratings. They are as good as any and are a component in the BCS rating formula, but the list looked like the result of a novice throwing darts. Preseason polls are interesting to look at, but are usually not very reliable. Quote
coachacola Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I like RealTimeRPI.Com and the Massey Ratings. Here's how RealTimeRPI has the SLC ranked after week 1: 140 SHSU 142 UCA 153 McNeese 197 NW State 199 SFA 212 SE LA 218 LU 246 Nicholls SHSU hasn't played a game yet and SFA blew out some crappy non-D1 school. RealTimeRPI only counts D1 opponents and they are predicting that LU will beat PVAMU, SE LA and Nicholls. Link: http://realtimerpi.com/football/ncaaf_sland_Men.html Quote
